Rob, Michelle and Lukas' Adoption Story

Rob and I were married in 1997 with lots of dreams for the future. Our biggest dream of having a child was not to be. We decided that adoption was the way for us and turned to American Adoptions in August of 2002.
It turned out to be the best and most important decision in our lives. We were matched right away in November 2002, however, the match fell through the day before the baby was to be born in December.
Our social worker, Laurie, was such a tremendous sense of support. She was empathic and optimistic that another match would come along but encouraged us to call her whenever we needed to talk.
In January 2003, we were matched again and this time it was a success!!! Our son, Lukas, was born February 22, 2003. We were able to meet our birthparents and social worker, Angie. It was incredible meeting someone you talked to so frequently. She was so sweet and knowledgable in what could be and probably usually is a "delicate" situation.
It is now January 2004 and I don't know where the past year has gone. Our son will be ONE next month!! This year has been the best year of our lives with lots of new beginnings and lots of firsts. We have decided to begin the process again so Lukas will have a brother or sister hopefully sometime this year.
We feel that the entire staff at American Adoptions stood behind through the entire process from the initial paperwork all the way through to the finalization. We want to thank the staff, ALL the staff, for their help, patience, understanding and kindness. Even the people who answer the phones are sweet. Adoption can be a stressful thing, however, with the right people behind you, it can also be the most amazing experience.
THANK YOU AMERICAN ADOPTIONS!!!
