My husband and I are currently in a hotel waiting for our ICPC clearance to take our daughter home across state lines. Whitney had it summarized pretty well. Try to stay in an extended stay type hotel. It is extremely helpful. The only thing I would add is a portable rocking chair. It's a fold up outdoor chair, like camping chairs that go in a bag, in a rocking style. It has been very handy. Good luck.

I agree with holding off on formula as they changed our daughters after a day because she spit up alot and had to go on isomil soy formula. We stayed at an extended stay place that had a free laundromat and we came home with clean clothes and did not take 3 weeks worth of clothes. We had the basics when we left home - car seat, bath travel kit, some clothes, diapers, wipes, a pack-n-play for her to sleep in, some bottles, pacifier, etc. What we did not have we bought while we were waiting for all the paperwork to be done.

I would say hold off on the formula until you have met your baby. You never know what formula the hospital will recommend (ours had to use a specific kind due to a protein allergy), and you might be surprised what they send with you. We came home with a huge stockpile of diapers, wipes, vaseline, babywash, lotion, formula, and more. I don't see anything wrong with second hand clothes, so you could always ask friends and family if they have any baby clothes to lend when ready to travel- or you can have fun looking for inexpensive unisex things at garage sales. Buying three weeks worth of brand new clothes in advance, not knowing the baby, would make me nervous. I would worry more about packing the necessities for yourselves to save money and searching for travel coupons. We used points earned on our credit card to get free hotel stay vouchers. Best of luck!

Hi every one I was just wandering what and how much you should bring with you if going out of state to adopt. the guid said we could be in a hotel up to 3 weeks after baby is born to get the goahead to go home. I was thinking of useing ready to use formula sincce you never know the water quality in new areas. but 3 weeks of ready to use formula is a lot to pack.i was also wandering about clothes, would you just keep buying a few outfit every few days or what I dont want to was my baby laundry in a public washer you never know wats going to get on you baby clothes , but then you should wash all new baby clothes so should I buy 3 weeks worth of clothes not knowing the size of the baby. as you can see im a pree planner, Im not even active yet but all thease question keep poping in aND i THOUGHT others might have the same question and my need the info. so let me know. thanks
