Hi Tami! Just a quick suggestion: if you will soon be 18, why not just wait until you are of age, and have your foster parents adopt you then? It is actually quite common for "adults" to be adopted, and much simpler. It takes your birthmother out of the loop completely. As for a middle name, why not chose a "family" name of your foster mother's family, perhaps her mother's name, or even her middle name. When parents name a child, they are giving them a gift of some meaning to themselves. It would be lovely to give that gift to your new family by taking one of theirs as your own. Best wishes to you! de

My name is Tammy i'm 17 years old and i'm being adopted by foster parents Tim and Karen. we are having trouble with my birthmother she refuses to sign the papers, I haven't lived with her since I was 6 years old but I don't even have any memories of me and my mother together I was always with my grandmother, or aunt. What can I tell my mother that will help her undertand why I want this and why my foster parents want this as well? I still will have contact with her I am going to be 18 in a couple of months and I know yall are thinking why are you getting adopted at such an age but I have been a part of this family for a while now and why not just make it forever. I want to keep my First name but change the spelling to Tami but I can't figure out a middle name for my self can you help me find a middle name?
