My Dear, I was an adopted child in the same situation as your son, only it was my father and step-mother. The only advice I can give you is what I learned from my parents struggle to adopt me. Be sure (so long as you can afford it) to get a lawyer. It will be easier to understand the legal system if you have a legal person with you. I have one other thing to say. Besides the fact that adoption between families is a wonderful way to commit your family to another, make sure that you and your husband continue to stay together. My parents have since divorced and my adoptive mother was granted custody of me. Which is, needless to say, quite hard for the child to have to explain. I know what I'm saying may be hard to understand, I dont seem to be able to explain things well on the computer, I urge you to contact me so I might be able to give you your childs aspect on this. Maybe if you can understand how he feels, maybe then you will be able to make a better decission. Thank you Michelle"Micki" L. German a.k.a. Misti Lizet
