My husband wants to adopt my 11 year daughter and she wants the same. He has been her only father figure since she was 4. She does know who her biological father is, however he has nothing to do with her. Child Support Inforcement cannot even locate him. The courts put my daughter not only in my custody but my husbands as well. How can we start adoption process without having to locate the biological father who is clearly abandoned my daughter?

My husband and I are legal guardians for our 8 year old nephew. He has been in our custody for over 4 years. Biological Dad lost parental rights. Biological Mom has not attempted to contact us for 3 years. Biologocal Mom has been in & out of jail all her adult life. She is unable to have supervised visitation unless she petitions the court which has not been attempted. This person is my younger sister. Can we claim abandonment and adopt our nephew? He has called us Mom & Dad forever and uses our last name in school. Mary
