Your friends parents both her mom and her dad would have to Willingly sign adoption papers it would cost your parents several thousand dollars they would need a homestudy and be approved to adopt an older child plus background checks on anyone over age 12 in their house it takes months to get a background check they might be able to do a legal guardianship?Still costs money but does not take away parental rights to her mom or dad just lets someone else take care of her and make sure she gets to school medical care etc good Luck Terrie

My friends parents have gone... for lack of a better word, "bad." I need my facts straight to present to my parents. Like, would it cost money? How long would this take? Does her parents need to sign anything or does my friend just need to say that she would rather be with us? Her parents would not let her go. So do the adoption people need any confromation that it's okay with them? They will most likely be here today to get her, so I need help as soon as possible. Thanks for any help anyone can give.
