| Jenn | Posted: Jan 20, 2006 12:15:52 PM I saw an older topic a few pages back regarding the age of the birth mother. A teen was inquiring whether people would want her baby because of her young age. In case any other birth mothers are reading these topics and wondering the same thing, I just wanted to say that nothing could be further from the truth! My husband and I are waiting to become activated with American Adoptions (probably will be in mid-March) and while we will accept a child of a mother of any age, a teen birth mother is actually our ideal. Younger mothers are more likely to have healthy, complication-free babies. While it may not be the right time in your life to have a child, biologically it is ideal. Additionally, we would take great peace of mind in knowing that your only reason for giving the child up for adoption is that you want to go to college or simply cannot support the child or aren't ready for the responsibility. Don't worry about your age for one minute! We would be THRILLED if young birth mothers considered our profile.
Best of luck with your decision and your journey!
