| Jenny | Posted: May 08, 2006 09:00:59 AM Patty, I would love to chat or email you about your adoption experience if possible. I have a couple of questions about the emotional aspect of being a mother to an adopted child. Thank you. Jenny

| Patty | Posted: Mar 07, 2006 05:31:11 PM I just want to say this, we adopted our son from AA in March 2002... I couldn't imagine loving him any more if he were our biological child.. I worried about that... he is our first child and we are in the process of completing our family profile to adopt our next baby... AA was great.. we had a wonderful experience! We also have a great on going relationship with our son's birthmother. It takes a long time to do the paperwork etc... make sure you start the paperwork about 1 year prior to wanting your adopted child...GO FOR IT!! GOOD LUCK! If you have any questions about this let me know... I love to talk about it!!

| Jennifer | Posted: Feb 15, 2006 08:00:49 PM Jenny I am a contracted worker for American and I can also say that American is a very good agency that does a number of placements in a year. The staff is great to work with and all my families are pleased with the services they provide. the one thing I can tell you is to make sure what ever agency you go with make sure you ask about legal, medical and home study services. Sometimes agencies don't provide these services in their fees. Good luck.

| Jenny | Posted: Feb 08, 2006 11:49:35 AM Hi Wendy. Thank you so much for your response. It really helped eleviate some of the overwheling feelings I had been experiencing. I'm pretty sure we want to adopt domestically but not sure about the age of the child. Actually, now that I think about it, we haven't even discussed adopting outside of the states. These are things my husband and I need to discuss before we go any further. I viewed your profile and thought it was really nice. I was given the impression that you and your husband are very loving and caring people. I wish you the best during this process. I thank you again for your comforting response.
Take care. Jenny

| Wendy | Posted: Feb 07, 2006 12:40:21 PM Jenny,
I guess the first thing you would have to decide is if you want to adopt domestically or internationally. Is it important to you to have a newborn or is an older child an option? If you decide to adopt here in the USA I would recommend that you call and speak with someone at American Adoptions. I guess the other thing you need to think about is that with domestic adoption you will have to wait until a birthparent picks you and with international you have more of a concrete time frame. My husband and I are currently waiting with American Adoptions. We are Elson and Wendy if you would like to look at our profile. Everyone at American has been so helpful and supportive. They will help guide you through a lot of your questions and help you to decide what is right for you.
Best Wishes and let us know what you decide.
Wendy

| Jenny | Posted: Feb 06, 2006 08:34:36 AM Hello. My husband and I are just starting to talk about adopting a baby. We have a 71/2 month old bio- daughter and have recently found out due to health concerns, that I cannot have anymore children. We realize just how blessed we are to have had our daughter and would be just as blessed to have another child through adoption. My husband's older brother is adopted and we plan to talk with him and my in-laws about their feelings and experiece with adoption. We have only just begun to read about adoption and find out information. I believe in my heart that this is something I want to do. We really want to expand our family. If anyone out there would like to share your experiences or give us any helpful tips and/or helpful resources, it would be greatly appreciated. There is so much great information out there that it's a bit overwhelming on where to start. Thank you so much.
