they check your whole life. if you have ever done anything let it be known up front because if they find out first you wont be able to adopt. honesty is the best way to avoid problems. i just adopted a 5 year old and they did a back ground check back to when i was 10 years old and im 35 now

My husband and myself live in new jersey.We have custody of a child we are in the process of adopting.We had a criminal back ground check, Can someone tell me how far they go back???
