My name is Monica and I'm 18 years old. This year I feel like I need to give the best fathers day gift ever, I would like my mothers boyfriend/fiance, James, to adopt me. I havent seen my real father since the 4th grade, and havent heard from him since the 6th grade. James has been there for my mother, older sister, younger brother and myself, for almost the past 12 years. Although I still would like to see my real father but I cant help but feeling he doesnt want to see us. It's heart breaking not being able to call someone "Dad" or "Daddy". I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I need help to figure out how to go along this process of letting him adopt me. I have a few concerns such as: My real father, I dont know where he is, we have been trying to find him for the longest time, is this going to make the process harder or not go though at all without contact with my father?; also, will my mother still have custody of me?; and I'm 18 do I need consent from my mother? Please help me because this man, James, is more of a father to me than my real father has been and he deserves a great fathers day gift. I love him like a Dad.
