| Nora | Posted: Jun 21, 2006 11:24:45 AM I know in our city, you can take your car seat to any firehouse and they'll check it for you -- same with hospitals. But the newer models -- we're devoted fans of our Graco Metrolite system -- are really easy to install, especially if you have a recent-model car with child seat anchors in it. | ||
| mary | Posted: Jun 19, 2006 08:18:43 AM I would also add that not only is it important to pick a safe, appropriate seat, but that you should take the time to have it installed or at least checked by someone who is certified. Most law enforcement agencies and many hospitals have car seat technicians. My husband does this, and he has only seen one or two installed correctly within his 7plus years of doing them. Research shows that over 80% are incorrectly installed; scary stuff. It can be tough to do, even if you read the manual closely. It never hurts to get a second opinion for peace of mind. | ||
| Kim | Posted: Jun 19, 2006 07:34:46 AM Hi Everyone, I know we are all anxiously awaiting the phone call that we have been selected to be adoptive parents. During this time there will be so many things to think about and prepare for. Your childs safety is one of them. I just received an email that the The National High Safety and Traffic Administration has just released its 2006 child safety seat ratings. Here's the website if you care to review it. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CPS/CSSRating/Index.cfm. I wish everyone the best of luck. | ||
