The waiting time for the Agency Assisted program is supposed to be between 1-9 months on average. There are a lot more families in the program now, so depending on how many birth mothers there are, it may be longer now. Used to be there were 5 or 6 families for full African American and now there's double that amount. We've only been waiting 3 weeks as we got a match right before we went active that disrupted when the baby was born and the birth mother decided to parent.

How long is the actual wait time for the agency assisted program?

We have been active 11 months, we are in the Traditional group.

Hi :-) I will respond to your waiting time question. We were activated on 9-11-06, and got our call on November 8, 2006 that our baby boy was being born on November 10, 2006. We traveled on 11-12-06 and picked him up from the hospital on the 13th, along with meeting his birthmother which is an experience that was absolutely fabulous and I couldnt have asked for a better experience. So.. for us it was 4 months from when we sent in our applications for adoption, and 7 weeks after we were officially activated. Good luck !

Hi Girls, This is also our second time going through AA> We went the TRAD I route both times. However, this time around we went above our budget....... just presented with a great situation!! THe first time we waited 6 months.... and this time it was 3 months to the day. Just keep busy and it will go by quickly!!!

hello, we went through the agency assisted program. we were matched two weeks after being activated!!

we are on our 2nd time with aa, we did the assited the first time. we are thinking about doing it a second time because we would like to be gender specific, but we would like to do the traditional also to include CC races, however you can't be gender specific in those programs. we waited approx 60 days.

Megan, we haven't signed on with AA yet. Still weighing our options and working on our home study. We will probably go with Traditional I also if we go with AA.

WhitneyPosted: Aug 15, 2006 11:41:12 AM
We are in the Traditional I program

Teresa & Whitney - what type of adoption program did you sign up for? Traditional 1,2, or agency assisted?

WhitneyPosted: Aug 10, 2006 07:57:00 PM
We were matched with a birth mother about 9 months after being active with AA. We are now active for a second adoption and it has been almost 4 months.

Question for the couples that are already activated, how long have you been waiting? Or for those of you who have already completed an adoption, how long did it take? I'm a little anxious.
