| Megan | Posted: Aug 27, 2006 08:50:35 PM Hi Everyone!
I hope you all are coming off a great weekend! We had our APQ review on thursday and our home study is complete so now we are just waiting for the profile to be completed. Hopefully that's all we need to get done before we are activated =) Anyone else have any news?

| Toni | Posted: Aug 23, 2006 08:56:48 AM Hi again! We are meeting our social worker for the first time on Monday to start our home study. We've been waiting on all of our paperwork, thankfully now it is all here. We have already reviewed our APQ with our Adoption Specialist, so once our home study is complete and we get our profile together, we should be active. I'm hoping that we can get everything done by the beginning of October. Everyone keep posting, your stories are encouraging and your experiences help those of us who are just beginning!

| Megan | Posted: Aug 21, 2006 05:03:04 PM We have our meeting coming up in the next week to review our APQ. Any thoughts as to the type of questions others have asked during this meeting? Sometimes you don't know what you don't know! =) Also typically how long does it last and are there multiple meetings like this or just the one? Thanks in advance of your insight!

| JenT | Posted: Aug 18, 2006 10:48:39 AM Colleen - we have been active for 2 months but I have not talked to our adoption coordinator during this time. I am one of those that would rather not know how many times we have been shown :) She did tell us that she frequently reviews the couples assigned to her and if she thinks that you are not being shown enough or if you could make changes to your APQ/Profile that would help she would let us know. Part of me wants to know but then I think it might make me over-analyze everything.

| Colleen | Posted: Aug 17, 2006 03:13:34 PM Hi again. Our home study was one of the quickest ever. It only took about 3 weeks start to finish. We worked with a wonderful social worker in NJ. Our activation process was also very quick - it only took about 2 weeks. We've been active for just about 3 months now - the time has definately flown by! Question for those of you that are active right now: How often do you speak with your adoption coordinator? What type of information are you receiving on a regular basis? Just curious - our conversations have been about once a month and our feedback at this early stage is very general. Thanks!

| JenT | Posted: Aug 17, 2006 12:15:15 PM Whitney - great idea on starting a new thread!
Megan - once we sent AA our finished homestudy we were activated very quickly. I think it took about 2 weeks. I am sure you are so happy to have the homestudy finished! I know we were - we had ours done by an agency here in California and it took 6 long months to get it completed.
I think I saw on one of the old postings talk of starting up a yahoo board or something so that we could post pictures and stuff like that. Was that ever done? If so I would love to join it :)
Talk to you all later....

| Megan | Posted: Aug 16, 2006 07:57:39 PM Hi Everyone! I'm a newbie to the board and to the whole adoption process. We just completed our approved homestudy (yea!) and have submitted all our paperwork so now we are waiting to be "activated". Any thoughts as to how long others have had to wait for this? Also I'd love to chat with others that are waiting =) It's great to know we're not alone in this adventure!
