We are working with an attorney for 3 years now and if we had to do it all over we would definately have went with an agency instead. We hear stories about couples who work with agencies and have adopted within a year. I guess you live and learn. Still hoping to adopt. Feel free to email me at msbenz@verizon.net Good luck and God Bless!

I started the adoption process with an attorney, and after watiting more than two years and no child, I turned to an adoption agency. I later found out that the attorneys only answered the phones 9-5 while most large agencies have people to answer their phones 24/7. Most birth moms work 8-5 and don't have time to call during normal business hours. Plus, agencies have a bigger staff and their job is strictly to place children for adoption.

As a birth mom I will tell you that I worked with an attorney when I placed my son for adoption. However, I currently work for an agency and through this experience have realized how many more opportunites and wonderful families are available to love and raise a child. I can confidently say that if I had to go through the experience again I would work with an agency because they truly do have a lot to offer birth moms and adoptive families.

Does anyone have any feelings on whether working with an agency or an attorney is better?
