Adoption StoryToday’s self-submitted adoption story is from Nancy and Kent who adopted their son Ryan through American Adoptions in 2009! Nancy describes some of the nervous, anxious – and sometimes obsessive – feelings that adoptive couples often feel while they wait:

“Boy, was I ever impatient,” Nancy writes. “I would log onto the American Adoptions website dozens of times a day… I don’t know why I would think that would help me deal with the situation, but I couldn’t seem stop myself from going on-line… I was obsessed! I would try to analyze why some couples seem to only be on the website for a few weeks or months and why we were still out there… what were these birth mothers looking for?  I’m sure I drove my husband, family and friends crazy with my obsession. I would call and try to come up with things I needed to ask.”

But then “the call” came, and Baby Ryan came into Nancy and Kent’s life!

Nancy says, “Ryan has wiped away all the sadness that we experienced with fertility treatments and the disappointments of two miscarriages. There is hardly a day that goes by that my husband, Kent and I don’t marvel over the fact that we finally have a baby!  There were times that I never thought it would happen either biologically or through adoption.”
