Talking About Adoption

We believe that talking about adoption frequently and throughout a child's lifetime will be incredibly important. From day one, we want to be able to discuss adoption openly and honestly and most importantly, we want to share with your child that they have a wonderful birth mother who loves them dearly whom brought them into this world. We believe it is important to talk about adoption in the early years so he/she can understand what adoption is all about, and that it is something to be proud of. Equally as important, we want to openly have conversations about adoption as they grow and mature. We believe it is important to provide a foundation and understanding so that they will come to know and appreciate that decisions were made to help them, that they have always been loved by you and us, and that they are special. When we have shared our hopes for our adoption journey with others, some have even responded by saying with a smile and excitement, "I was adopted. That's great!" We love hearing that type of excitement from others about their own adoption stories and we hope to create that same excitement by lovingly discussing adoption in our home.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Windblown on Vacation

We have a beach house that we frequent often and we envision your child's sand pail and little flip-flops beside the open door. Our favorite vacation spot is the beach. We love the outdoors and we love what the beach has to offer - beautiful sunshine, soft sand, and the sound of breaking waves. We really enjoy relaxing on the beach, taking a long run in the early morning, taking afternoon walks, watching children play in the surf, and laughing at dogs playing in the water. We look forward to a time when we will be able to play in the waves or build sandcastles with your child. At the beach, you can see the seagulls soar overhead, or watch the little sandpipers run along the beach. Sometimes you can see the dolphins as they are migrating north or south. Most of all, we enjoy the sunsets together. It's nice to be able to enjoy the beach with family and friends. When we have family or friends over, we enjoy a nice meal or cookout in the evening after a long day at the beach and then we play games before we turn in with the open windows and cool ocean air.

Our Extended Families
At the Beach with Friends

We are fortunate to have a close immediate family with close friends who are essentially part of our extended family. Regina's family consists of her parents, three sisters, their husbands and seven children. Randy's extended family consists of his parents, his sister, and, numerous cousins! We both have very close friends from high school and college and consider several of them like brothers and sisters.

With Regina's Sister, Brother-in-Law and Nephews

We spend a lot of time with our extended families whether it is visiting them on the weekend, spending time with them at the beach, or just having a holiday brunch. Recently, all of Regina's sisters and their families went to the Caribbean, a lovely island called Mustique, to celebrate a special birthday for one of Regina's sisters. Not only was it a lovely setting, but it was so wonderful to get together. We have also vacationed together over the years. A few years ago we sailed in the Aegean Sea, and continue to spend time together at the beach, either at our beach house or at other family member's beach house. In addition, we spend time visiting Regina's parents in Florida and playing golf with them. On occasion, we have event spent the holidays in Florida, which was great treat for the children to swim at Thanksgiving!
