What Led Us To Choose Adoption
Thanksgiving at the Beach

Approximately five years ago, we decided it was the "right" time in our lives to begin trying to conceive a child. After six months of trying without success we decided to seek the help of a fertility specialist. Initially, we were told the reason for infertility was unexplained. This gave us hope since no major causes for infertility could be identified. After many failed treatments we were told that our chances of conceiving were low based on the information they had gained through the treatments provided. This news was devastating. Although adoption had always been in the back of our minds we were not ready to move forward at that time. We were heartbroken and needed time to grieve. After some time, we started to research adoption and were able to speak to several families who had adopted. Now, it seems that we meet families with adoption stories all of the time. Hearing others' stories brings us joy and renews our hope once again of having a family. We realize how much love we have for each other and that we are not biologically related. This gives us a sense of peace and we know that adoption is right for us.

Our Volunteer Work
Rob and The Pugs Are Ready For Bed

Charity is very important to us. We often participate in dog walks in our community as well as give to local and national animal shelters. Working with infants and toddlers with autism is not only Karen's work, but her passion. Karen's business participates as a vendor during autism related activities including walks to support autism research and community education. We recently created a walk team with our family and friends and raised over $1000.00 to support autism research. Each April Karen supplies autism ribbons to her clients to share with their families and increase autism awareness. We also support our church community through weekly monetary contributions. We believe charity is a symbol of our love for God and man and we always wish we could do more!

Type of Education We Will Provide
Early Spring

We look forward to watching our child grow and develop. Karen is excited about using her education in speech-language development with her own child including providing many opportunities to learn through play, reading books, singing and other fun activities. We plan to provide a pre-school education for our child so that he or she can learn to play and socialize with peers at an early age. Although both of us received a good education in the public school system, we are planning to enroll our child in a Catholic School. The Catholic School in our community has a good reputation for academic success as well as providing a faith based education. As the time approaches for our child to attend school we will explore our options in depth as we realize schools can change over time. We will save for our child's college education so that he or she will be able to choose their career based on their desires rather than being limited by an unaffordable education. Our parents always stressed the importance of education and we plan to do the same for our child.
