Our weekends are so full of fun activities. We are members of our local zoo and Tucker loves to go see the animals. We also spend a lot of time at any one of our local parks playing on the jungle gym, slides and swings, flying kites, and kicking a ball around in the grass. One of our favorite things to do is make bubble mix with Momma's secret recipe and go crazy running around the backyard chasing bubbles! In addition to our week long summer vacation, we travel several times a year for long weekends all around the country ... Chicago, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Phoenix, Boston, Charleston, and New York City to name a recent few, and we all enjoy exploring the local children's museum in each new city!
Todd enjoys golfing and, on some weekends, is able to get in a round before heading home to wrestle with Tucker on the family room floor! Christine enjoys home improvement and decorating projects and loves to include Tucker in her painting and art projects. Our garden is littered with art projects made of concrete, glitter, and colored stones! Whether we are together exploring a new city, or chasing bubbles and each other in the backyard, we are having fun as a family!
Adoption is not exotic in either of our worlds.Our niece and nephew, Olivia and Mikey, are both adopted. While we know that they are adopted, this fact does not make them unique in our eyes. What makes them unique is that Olivia loves the color pink, her pet fish, and all things girly, and Mikey loves his rock band, building things, and creating computer animation. They are our family. Growing up, Christine's playmates included four adopted children ... two girls and two boys. So, adoption and being adopted certainly is not unusual for us or our extended families. It is from this special background that we come to look upon adoption as the perfect way to expand our family.
We have special holiday traditions. On Christmas Eve, we gather with our family and have a wonderful dinner with lots of desserts! Afterwards, Todd reads "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and everyone gets very excited that Santa Claus is coming! Christmas is such a magical time in our house. Another holiday we love is Easter. We always decorate eggs and have an Easter egg hunt. Christine loves to mix the egg dye and hard boil all of the eggs and, then, everyone has fun running around the house looking for hidden Easter eggs!
We have special non-holiday traditions. Once a month, each member of Christine's family hosts dinner. Family dinner helps all of us stay close and have fun together. Another tradition that keeps our family close is our Sunday night Skype call with Todd's family in San Diego. We started Skyping with our CA Family just after Tucker was born and it has become a tradition that we love. A tradition that is very important to us is our week long family vacation. This is a special time for the three of us to reconnect, create fun memories, and have lots of fun together! Our most recent vacation was to Kiawah Island, SC. We had so much fun--Todd loved golfing and playing in the waves; Christine loved riding her bike on the beach and building sandcastles; and, Tucker loved ... well, everything! We are already excited about our family vacation next year!
