Becoming parents would mean so much to us. Parenting would give us the opportunity to teach a child how to navigate through life's challenges and enjoy each new day, supporting him or her with love and opportunities.
We have many special children in our life already. As Godparents to six children, we've had a glimpse into parenthood. We look forward to sharing the joys and responsibilities that come with parenting. As much as we are excited to teach this child, we are eager to learn from this child, as well. We have an opportunity to learn "the basics" all over again through the eyes of a child, which will give our own lives a new perspective.
We also look forward to watching a child reach important milestones. When he or she is young, a milestone will include first steps and the first tooth. As he or she grows older, it will be about finding self-confidence and making important decisions. And, if you wish, we would happily share these milestones with you along the way.
When she wants an honest opinion or needs help making a decision, Kelly turns to her husband. He is very insightful and direct when problem-solving and planning for the future. Tony's intelligence shines through whether he's giving pharmacy advice to friends about their child's fever or trading witty jokes with friends over dinner. Tony's deep loyalties lie with his family and friends. And if he's near a piano, Tony will tickle the ivories playing anything from "Hey, Jude" to "The Muppet Show" theme song. Tony is looking forward to sharing his gifts with a child who will surprise him with his or her own special gifts.
Where Tony offers musical talent, Kelly finds her artistic outlet in photography and other hobbies such as scrapbooking. She enjoys being creative, which may take the form of planning an outing with friends or making gifts for others. She's a planner and likes to be organized (which she jokingly says is a result of her many years as a Girl Scout). She is considerate of others, from friends to strangers, largely due to her strong faith. She always finds God working in her life and looks forward to her family's faith life growing together.
First, we attribute our happy selves to God. We express our faith differently, but both agree that it’s an important foundation in our lives. For Tony, he finds God in his relationships with loved ones. Kelly sees God in her everyday life in small miracles and quiet moments.
Also, we both are part of loving and supportive families. We have no doubt that our happiness stems largely from getting a good start in life. As we grew up, we continued to tap into all those little things we learned along the way of childhood: Say please and thank you; be respectful of others; try your best; don’t pester your brother; share; and tell the truth. Of course, there are many more, but these created the basic building blocks that helped us become responsible and happy adults.
Finally, we’ve grown together through our marriage. We’ve learned to make sacrifices for each other, to pick each other up when we’re down and to celebrate our victories together. When we talk about various issues, we bring different points of view to the table and we broaden each other’s perspectives.
