What Would Our Strengths as Parents Be?
We believe parents are the safeguards of their children and are responsible for protecting them while they grow. A parent must be calm, patient, a good listener and at times stern while remaining compassionate and open minded. Being honest and consistent while setting a good example is very important. A parent should be encouraging yet challenging when instilling morals, values and ethics in order to achieve a loving, responsible happy child who becomes a positive member of society. Our job will also be to provide many experiences so our children will have many things to choose from for their career or passion. It will be a great thing to pass on the beauty of life and all of life's possibilities to our children.
Our strengths as parents comes from the fact we are very committed to each other and as a result provide stability and support for one another. Tracy is a warm, loving, creative woman who is calm and strong and encourages independence. Her life experiences have made her resourceful and given her the ability to overcome challenges which will help her with the challenges of motherhood. Dolan is a natural born storyteller and teacher who often volunteers in local schools. He is patient and has a passion for sharing what he knows with others and making learning fun.
What We Will Tell Your Child About Their Adoption?
From the day we can cuddle and kiss your baby, we will begin sharing with them the story of their adoption. Even before your baby can talk, we will tell your baby that you love them and that you gave us the greatest gift of being their adoptive parents. Your child will understand that it was your love for them that led to your decision.
Our most important role is to make sure your child has a strong sense of who they are. That sense will grow from knowing that their birth parents and adoptive parents both love them unconditionally. Your child will see that adoption is welcomed in our family when they meet their cousins who are also adopted. Our goal is the same as your goal, for your child to be happy, confident and secure in the knowledge that we both love them very, very much. Our job as adoptive parents is to encourage your child's questions and to answer them honestly and with a loving positive attitude. Your child will know everything you want them to know about you and your love.
Leisure Time Activities
Ireland Vacation
When mountain weather keeps us indoors, we have many things we enjoy doing together. Playing with our pets is one of our favorites. While playing with our pets we can also lie on the floor and watch old movies. We are also both avid readers, often spending quiet nights reading in front of our fireplace. Tracy enjoys novels of historical fiction and autobiographies while Dolan likes aviation history and outdoor adventures. Tracy is a fantastic cook who enjoys preparing meals from scratch and often spends many hours experimenting with new recipes.
Once the weather breaks you will find us canoeing or airplane camping. Whether driving or flying, we enjoy getting into the wild mountains of the American West. Flying our airplane into small grass airstrips in the mountain wilderness allows us to see parts of the mountains many people cannot gain access to. This allows visits to great hideaways of open fields, trout streams, snow covered peaks, and nature's peace and quiet. In the winter time we stay on the ground and cross country ski, snowshoe and toboggan.
When not out doing big adventures we like to keep close to town with scenic drives or community events. We live in a small city with a great riverside park where events are often held with bands and food provided by local restaurants. Riverside trails provide great walking or bicycling. We have a beautiful old theatre which shows art films and plays. Great fun can be had at a local children's theatre that provides kids a chance to try their hand at acting.
