 Being a parent has brought us great satisfaction in our lives. It was what we wanted for so long and we are so blessed to have our daughter and are so excited for her to have a sibling. Even through our past experiences with infertility treatments, there was never a doubt in our minds that we wanted to adopt to build our family. It is exciting knowing that we can raise a child to know their heritage and to know that they are unconditionally loved. Thank you for considering us. |

Fiona can relate personally to the adoption experience as she is an adopted child. She was adopted at birth but there has never been a time that she hasn't known she was adopted. Her parents called her "their chosen one." However, Fiona's adoption was closed, so there was never an opportunity for her adopted parents to find out information about her birth parents. She thinks it would have been wonderful to have more information about her birth parents. She has only recently found out a small amount of information but not enough to truly satisfy. Everybody wonders who they might look like at some stage in their life. That's why we think it's wonderful that with American Adoptions, if there comes a time that your child wants to learn more about you, the information is readily available, provided that you are fine with them having that knowledge.
You will be the one to give this child life and hopefully allow us to achieve another "chosen one" for our family. One of our most special moments was meeting Annelise's birth mother, as well as other family members, when she was born. We provide updates to them and they appreciate the pictures and letters that we send. We also like receiving information and current pictures of them all so that we can share with Annelise once she is older.
We are both very different types of people. Sebastian has a very outgoing personality and loves meeting lots of new people and doing new things. Fiona is more of a homebody, which is the nurturing side of her. She prefers to spend time at home with her family. However, we have brought our difference personalities together to be who we are today. Since the arrival of our daughter, we have enjoyed being able to do things as a family. We enjoy going out and spending time with family and friends, as much as we do staying at home and we try to stay balanced in these endeavors. We love going on vacations and it is the best feeling to be able to do this as a family now. We have done cruises and overseas trips with our daughter and have had a fantastic time. Being from two different cultures, there are so much for them to see and learn and different places for them to travel. With family in different parts of the USA as well as the world, they will be able to learn so much and we will have so much fun as parents, showing that to them. Nothing in our life or lifestyle can come before the joy of spending time with children and sharing our life with our children. We believe that our children will have a very well-rounded and complete lifestyle.
Our desire for our children is for them to have a complete education. We would ideally love for them to attend a private school, so that they receive the best education possible. Both of us went to school in the public school system, and we both felt that there was sometimes a great lack of one-on-one teacher/student interaction, which can sometimes make all the difference in a child’s education. Our daughter currently attends a daycare and it astounds us every day how much she has learnt and accomplished at such a young age. Children are so intelligent and that must be nurtured and allowed to grow.
