Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Sightseeing on the Oregon Coast

Our favorite vacation spot is right here in the beautiful state of Oregon. We love the Oregon coast and enjoy taking day "vacations" there and overnight trips on occasion. It is an amazing place where the mountains and ocean meet with abundant green forests and beautiful blue ocean as far as the eye can see. There is no lack of front row seats for a beautiful west coast sunset! Oregon is truly a unique state with several climates including desert, rain forest and year-round snow capped mountains. We feel that we have barely tapped into the recreation available right in our back yard and look forward to exploring these with a child and making many memories as a family.

How We Met
On the Oregon Coast

We met at church. Kristin saw a young man helping take the offering one morning that she had never seen before. After some inquiry, she found out that he had just moved into an apartment that her Uncle owned so of course, "word" got around to her Uncle that Kristin was curious about him. Without Kristin knowing, her Uncle put a note on the apartment door saying that he had a nice niece who was looking for a nice young man and put her phone number on there. Kristin was embarrassed when she found out that her Uncle did this, but deep down was kind of happy that he had broken the ice. Kirk was a little shy so it was a couple of months before he actually called Kristin. We dated for a year and a half and got married on a beautiful fall day in October 2005! We are so thankful to have found one another and can honestly say that we are best friends and truly enjoy spending all of our time together!

Our Family Traditions

We enjoy many traditions around the winter holidays and are so excited to share them with a child! We enjoy Thanksgiving dinner every year with our dearest family and friends which starts out with a huge bowl of delicious homemade spinach dip while the ladies finishing preparing the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We eat every year at our friend's house that have a large dining room because anyone is welcome to come that may not have a place to go. This past year we had 25 people including 9 kids under all the age of 9! Kristin makes Kirk's Grandma's homemade noodles that were a tradition for him growing up which she rolls out a few days before Thanksgiving so they can dry. The few days before Thanksgiving are a whirlwind of baking in our kitchen with making the noodles and all the pies! Kristin really enjoys it and usually sneaks in a few Christmas songs while baking!

We get a live Christmas tree every year. Both of us have fond memories of doing this with our families as children and we cannot wait to share this with your child! Last year we had a Christmas Eve dinner and we bought new pajamas for the kids (which of course they wanted to put on right away) and then their parents let them open 1 gift each. We think this will be a fun Christmas Eve tradition to have with your child. We are looking forward to seeing their excitement and wonder during this time of year and cannot wait to have Christmas mornings filled with a big family breakfast and wrapping paper everywhere!

On Labor Day every year we have our annual church picnic which is so much fun! We have a water balloon toss and softball game and of course tons of food. We cannot wait to have a child to play in the water balloon toss with. The kids all have so much fun and look forward to it each year!
