![]() There is a growing pile of unread children's books that sits in the corner of our future nursery, just waiting to be read and to be cherished by a child. Our hearts are just like the books in that collection; open, waiting and excited to share their adventures with a child. We feel very blessed that you would read our profile, and are interested in learning a little bit more about the different chapters of our lives that have led us up to this point in our journey. Thank you for considering us as a possible part of your story. |

We are "outdoorsy people."Summer means hiking wooded trails with our dogs or using our kayaks on a local waterway. Winter means skiing and snow tubing. We are very fortunate that we've been able to experience hikes and foreign cultures overseas, plus several US national parks. Our favorites are Zion National Park and Cape Hatteras. Each summer we like to camp with friends. We can't wait to show a child mountains, green forests, blue lakes and oceans and to roast marshmallows on a campfire.
We both have the ability to remember random details of movies; like when we sang a song from the movie Labyrinth together on a city street on our first date. We can be very silly, but serious when it counts. We both have a passion for learning and random trivia (things can get a little competitive there!) On a local level, we love to go to Phillies games, theater and music festivals. We also enjoy games of softball and flag football. Cooking "Top Chef" worthy meals together is a favorite pastime; Jess enjoys making sauces while Pete enjoys chopping vegetables. Potlucks are a regular occurrence with friends, family, and their children.
What are some of our favorite hobbies? We love games of all types! Some of our favorites include Scrabble, Yahtzee, Trivial Pursuit, and Rock Band on Xbox. Pete's favorite hobby is playing guitar. Jess enjoys creating photographs and sharing/ selling them. We both enjoy drawing, painting or simply relaxing with a good book or movie.
We are a spiritual and accepting couple; we understand that people come from a variety of different life experiences that make them unique. We strive to be non-judgmental and compassionate people. We both maintain a positive attitude and both have a spirit of trying to bridge gaps and promote understanding between people. We honestly try to live our lives in a way that will leave the world a better place.
We have a large group of friends, who come from a variety of religious and ethnic backgrounds that are like extended family to us. We appreciate different cultures and enjoy learning about the rest of the world, but we also remain grounded in the values that we learned from our loving families. For us, the "golden rule" is lived out in our everyday lives. Our respective careers in psychology and nursing are evidence of our callings to help others in times of distress. In our daily work, we ensure that the patients we work with are all treated with the respect they deserve.
Some of our activities and interests are reflective of our passion to "do right" for all life. From a young age, Jess and her family would volunteer in the community; from working at a homeless shelter and soup kitchen to aiding elderly neighbors with meals and visits for companionship. Pete had the experience of watching his father do extensive work with Habitat for Humanity. Today, we are involved in creating teams for Cancer Awareness fundraising events and in volunteering with a local organization that finds homes for homeless pets. We hope to continue setting the example that our families did, with our own children, by including them in community service activities as they get older.
Jess: I have never met a person like Jess before. She is truly a one-of-a-kind individual and I'm so glad that we found each other. I could tell that she had her stuff together and that she was the one for me from our very first conversation. Above all, Jess is a great listener. As a trained therapist, she has the ability to listen to a problem, help you explore it and enable you to find the solution for yourself. She is a loving nurturer as well. She has the most generous heart, you can see it in her interactions with children and in the way she treats animals. Jess is an adventurous, silly, funny yet down to earth and organized woman. She has a very strong moral center and is very passionate about social justice and the welfare of others.
Pete: Pete is a unique guy- he's so considerate, loving, and willing to talk and share feelings. Pete's an artist; his creative drawings or watching him play the bass or guitar make me proud. I love when we go to the art museum and he can teach me about the artist and paintings. I am amazed by the joyful way kids respond to Pete; his gentle and kind nature is obvious to children and animals alike. Pete can be serious and thoughtful, but also silly. On hard days, his hugs, listening, jokes, and positive nature shine through, guiding me towards happier times.
