Originally we chose adoption after a long struggle with infertility, including two surgeries and one miscarriage. We spent a lot of time talking with each other and God and came to realize that we were being called to adopt. Our prayers were answered in April of 2009, when we got the call that our son's birth mother was in labor. We immediately packed our bags and drove 300 miles, arriving just in time to see our son born. It was one of the best days of our lives and we will be forever grateful to his birth parents for allowing us to be a part of his birth. Adoption is the greatest gift of love between the birth parents, baby and adoptive parents. We feel so lucky that our lives have been blessed by adoption and we have so much love for our son, Harry, and for his birth family. Harry is an adorable little boy who is full of energy and curiosity. We find great joy in spending time with him and being there to help him as he discovers new things. We look forward to experiencing the joy of adoption again to grow our family, and we are so excited for Harry to have a little brother or sister.
About Misty by Kevin: Misty is my college sweetheart and best friend. I always knew she would be a great mother and my suspicions have all been surpassed. She adores our son and is always there for him. Misty has a wonderful ability to give loving advice and compassionate support. Whether in the role of mother, wife or friend, Misty is virtuous, trusting, wise and loving.
About Kevin by Misty: Kevin is a very loving husband and father. He is intelligent, strong, generous and patient. He also has a wonderful sense of humor that keeps me laughing, even when life is challenging. Kevin has a remarkable gift to look for the good in people -- I love that about him! Our son already looks up to him, and I hope that he grows up to be as great a man.
Love takes priority in our lives. Whether it is our relationship with God, each other, family, friends, coworkers or others, we try to act in a loving way. Love allows us to make good decisions and our priorities are kept straight based on what really matters in life. Our priorities are shaped on faith based decisions to always do what is moral and honorable. Parenting is our greatest source of joy. We are fortunate to have four great parents who taught us many parenting skills by example. Parenting for us is the ultimate way to provide a child with the necessary tools for life. It is protecting them from harm and teaching them right from wrong so they can make decisions for themselves later. It takes unconditional love and a supportive environment. The opportunity to love a child and parent them into adulthood is something we hold in the highest regard.
