We spend all of our holidays with both sides of our families. During the summer it is a barbecue in someone's backyard and in the winter it is dinner at multiple family members houses throughout the holiday season. There is never a shortage of food or good times during the holidays and certainly memories which we will share for a lifetime.
Over the years, we have developed some of our own family traditions. Each year we look forward to picking out our Christmas tree. We visit a small tree farm close to our house. We bundle up to keep warm, and walk through the farm until we find our perfect tree. After you find your tree, they offer a cup of hot chocolate while they wrap up the tree. They really treat you like part of the family!
One of our favorite vacations was to Spring Training in Clearwater, Florida. Not only did we enjoy the escape from the cold weather with time on the beach, but we also got to watch our favorite baseball team get ready for the upcoming season. Many of our vacations since have been planned around baseball stadiums. We both really enjoy catching a game and touring the stadiums.
One of our daily traditions is that we "always kiss each other goodnight." Your child will be added into this equation and will always get two kisses goodnight. We look forward to sharing all of our traditions with a child. We are sure that as the child grows we will develop new traditions along with the old.
Education is important to both of us. Heather is planning on being a stay-at-home mom. She will begin educating your child very early. Every day she will work with your child to develop skills and knowledge. She will also read to your child daily. We feel reading is important because it allows open dialogue between us and the child through the story of the book. Children can learn many things through reading which is why it is so essential. As your child enters school, we will be able to walk him or her to school. The local elementary school borders the neighborhood that we live in.
As your child progresses through school we will ensure that he or she succeeds by being involved at the school and at home during homework time. Several of our friends are teachers, so we will be able to reach out to them for advice and help. We hope that your child will want to continue on to college. We plan to start a college fund so that this can be achieved. We hope to pass on the many educational opportunities that were given by our parents to your child.
We believe that being parents means loving your child unconditionally. Parenting involves many things including, nurturing, teaching, caring, supporting and guiding them through life. We believe that communication, education, honesty, and respect are foundations of parenthood. We use these characteristics everyday in our relationship now and will pass these aspects onto your child. We look forward to all aspects of being parents. We have been down a long road to become parents and will never take the gift of parenthood for granted. We cannot wait to watch your baby grow through the years. We will be there for every moment along the way. Some of the things we look forward to as a family are holding and comforting the baby, listening to first words, watching as they take their first steps, fixing boo-boos and discovering the child's interests as he or she grows.
