Our Family Traditions
Family Silliness On a Trip to Grandma and Grandpa's House

Our most important family tradition is eating dinner together at the kitchen table. We talk about the things we are grateful for that day and the important or interesting topics or challenges from the day. We are also pretty good at telling jokes. Josh has two favorite knock knock jokes right now. The first is "Knock knock. Who's there? Alpaca. Alpaca who? Alpaca lunch...let's go on a picnic!" The second is "Knock knock. Who's there? Hatch. Hatch who? God Bless You!" We also love to sing. Sarah grew up singing and playing the piano and these are hobbies that have continued into her adult life. Right now, we have two favorite songs to sing in the morning while we are getting ready for our day. The first song is "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." The second song is called "Dig a Little Deeper" from the Princess and the Frog movie soundtrack. When Josh was a baby, we sang lullabies and lots of nursery rhymes. In our dreams, we are singing to our second baby boy or girl, seeing this child smile for the first time, and laugh for the first time, and soothing this special child with songs.

Our Leisure Time
Atop Our Favorite Summit at the National Park Near Our Home

We love to be outside in every season. We belong to a swim club in the summer months. The swim club has several pools, including a pool only for infants and toddlers. This is a very special place where we, especially Sarah, would spend time with your child in the summer. There are also slides and basketball nets right in the pool! Josh loves to play basketball with a little help from Daddy and Grandpop Harry. In the fall, we love to hike in the national forest, only a 45-minute drive from our home. Our family's favorite trail is an easy and scenic one-mile loop. This winter we tried skiing for the first time! There is a small ski resort less than an hour from our home, which has an excellent ski school for kids. In the spring we love to hike and play in the river at a natural area 30 minutes from our home.

What Led Us to Choose Adoption

We have been together for a long, long time. We always hoped and expected to have a large family. It took several years and many procedures before our son Josh was born. After his birth, we continued to experience infertility. After another several years of trying to get pregnant again, we finally decided that adoption would be the most caring way for us to expand our family. We are lucky and blessed to have Josh in our lives, and as the last few years flew by, and as we watched him grow by leaps and bounds and realized how fast time is flying, we searched down deep in our hearts and realized that we still yearn for the second child we had always planned to have. Sibling relationships are so very important. We believe with all of our hearts that, next year, years into the future, and in the many years in between, your child and Josh would be very lucky to have each other in their lives, to learn from each other, to help each other grow, and to love each other like only siblings can.
