![]() We are so excited to become parents! This chapter of our lives has been something that we've talked about since the very beginning of our relationship. For the past several years, we've prepared our home and hearts for this opportunity. We hope that this profile gives you the chance to learn more about us, our lives, and how much we look forward to welcoming a child into our family. |

We are people on the go. Our passions keep us busy playing sports, enjoying the outdoors, and traveling the globe.
The favorite part of our lives is all of the traveling we get to do. Since we're working in China right now we have been able to travel all over Asia. Our favorite trips have been camping on the Great Wall, skiing in the Japanese Alps, snorkeling Australia's Great Barrier Reef, swimming in the blue waters off of Thailand and getting a sun tan in Bali, Indonesia. During all of these great trips we've talked about how special it will be to come back and share the cultures, landscapes, and experiences with a child.
Day to day we both love to spend time staying active: Carrie's favorite is running the sidewalks of the neighborhood; Lon's favorite is kicking up mud mountain biking. When we're not busy we love to spend time at home. We love having friends over for a dinner or barbecue followed by a heated game of charades. Carrie loves trying out new recipes and spending a morning in the kitchen. She is really looking forward to decorating cookies with a child. Lon likes to sketch and wood work: he can't wait for science projects with a child.
We think our lifestyle will create a great home for your child, where they'll learn to be passionate and loving.
Adoption has always been a part of our family plans - when we first discussed what our family might look like we dreamed about a family that included adoption because of our own personal experiences. We are blessed to already know how adoption is truly wonderful. Lon's mom was adopted into a big family as a young child and grew up learning about faith, hope, and most importantly - love. Our own family, created through adoption, will look to the great example they set. Lon's mom, our nephews call her Nana, will certainly be a great resource for a child when he or she begins to ask about his or her own adoption story. Also, one of Carrie's closest friends was adopted and she, too, has a wonderful story to tell. We're really looking forward to becoming the next adoption success story!
One of the things we are most excited to share with a child is a sense of family and the traditions that have become a part of our life. There are every day traditions that we have, such as sitting down to dinner every night as a family. Both of our parents did this with our families and it is something we started as soon as we were married. Every night we discuss the day, share a good meal, and just connect as a family. We both love to cook and enjoy preparing a big family meal every Sunday evening. We try new recipes and spend the day in the kitchen making a homemade feast.
Christmas is a big celebration for us, especially Christmas Eve. Carrie's family makes seven different types of fishes for dinner, an Italian tradition that has been passed down through the generations. We also have the tradition of all the kids getting a gift of new Christmas pajamas to wear to bed while waiting for Santa to arrive. Carrie's parents started this when she was growing up and the tradition continues today with Carrie's nephews. We look forward to sharing the magic of the holidays with a child and experiencing these fun moments together as a family.
