Type of Education We Will Provide
Hanging Out on the Back Porch

George Washington Carver once said, "Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom." We truly believe that education is what opens doors of opportunity and we take the responsibility of educating a child very seriously. We have a bit of an advantage when it comes to education because Julie is an Assistant Principal with our local public school system. We have school choice in the county where Julie works which means we have the ability to send a child to the best public schools in our area (this employee benefit allows for school choice within our entire district - no matter where you work); however, we have also considered the benefits that private schooling would afford a child and there are some exceptional private schools in our area as well. We believe a good education is an integral component of a child's upbringing and where a child goes to school is not a decision to take lightly. We feel blessed that we have the options available to us in both public and private education.

Our Leisure Time
Glen on a Hike with Our Dog, Gonzo

Depending on the time of year we may do one (or all) of the following (as one can quickly see, we love to spend time together): going to craft fairs, hiking at one of the many state parks, enjoying family get-togethers, going to the theater, visiting museums, antiquing, renting a cabin, exploring the back-roads of our state, venturing through small towns, going to college football games, discovering new places, and just enjoying each other's company. We are very active and love seeking adventures. We often get together with friends and family for game nights that include board and card games, Wii competitions, and Guitar Hero battle of the bands. We will seek out any excuse to share an evening of fun with those we love.

What Led Us to Choose Adoption

This is not a question that we take lightly ... our decision to adopt did not come easily (or quickly). Through many years of trying to have a baby to many more years spent attempting fertility treatments, it was a journey we believe God took us on so that we would learn lessons of patience, perseverance, commitment, hope, renewed faith, and ultimately the true meaning of love ... not just that of a husband and a wife, but how we could extend ourselves (and our love) to a child that was entrusted to our care. There is a quote that says, "For us to have each other is like a dream come true. We didn't give you the gift of life; life gave us the gift of you." This quote has become a motto for our adoption journey. We now know that our decision to adopt is going to bring us to a level of love we have never experienced before and what an honor it will be to share our lives with the greatest gift a birth mother can give ... her own child.
