Our lifestyle is different than a lot of families in the fact that we live a simple life. We try not to get to wrapped up in technology. While we do have cell phones, satellite TV and a Wii, we much prefer simple activities together.
We live on a small farm and raise chickens and garden. We love to raise our own food. We enjoy things like canning, pouring soap, sewing and cooking from scratch. We also prefer to spend our time together in activities like walks in the country, fishing, playing ball or corn hole in the yard.
We love this laid back, simple lifestyle and our children would much rather do something together than sit in front of the TV or play video games anytime.
Paul loves fishing and has been a bass fisherman since he was 13 years old. He enjoys tournaments and has won many trophies. Being outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air on the water is very enjoyable to him. He also helps with the youth fishing program raising money for the kids and taking young children fishing.
Shelley loves crocheting and knitting. She makes hats and blankets and stuffed animals for children. She has also taught our daughters to crochet and loves to spend time with them crocheting. She also loves reading, cooking and gardening and has read to the children since birth. She is also teaching the children how to cook and plant the garden.
Adoption has played a large role in both of our families. Shelley has one cousin who was adopted at birth by her grandparents. She is the same age as Shelley and they have a close bond, her cousin is very excited and supportive of our adoption plan. She also has a cousin who was adopted by her aunt at age 10.
Paul has a cousin and uncle who were adopted. His aunt is also a birth mom and choose adoption for her son at birth.
Since we have both grown up with adoption in our families, we have very supportive families. We have seen the unconditional love that goes into choosing adoption for a child from all angles. It is very important to us to make sure your child always knows how wonderful and special you are to our family, and that you are making this decision out of love for them.
