We work hard but play harder! In our down time, we enjoy spending time together. We like to travel and it's not uncommon for us to wake up on a Saturday decide to take a 3 hour road trip. We like to check out the historical sites and museums near our home or enjoy a day at nearby amusement parks or zoo. Taking in a baseball game, NASCAR race, concert, or simply entertaining friends and family in our home are some of our favorite things to do. We love the outdoors and enjoy fishing, camping, swimming, going to the beach or pool, boating, jet skiing, waterskiing and wakeboarding. On rainy or snowy days, we like to cuddle up on the couch and watch movies or play board games with the neighbors.
When we're not busy with the weekend activities, we have activities we enjoy on our own. Mike plays golf, soccer, and volleyball. When the weather is nice he likes riding his motorcycle. He's so full of life and can be found many days playing Frisbee or throwing the football with neighborhood children.
Kim likes to walk and enjoys taking the family dogs on walks around the neighborhood. She enjoys experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes and often prepares food for spouses of deployed Air Force Families. Volunteering is another of her passions and she devotes several hours a month with the deployed spouses club to offer support and guidance to young families of our deployed service members.
As parents, we'll be encouraging of the child's dreams and desires. He or she will be showered with love and attention from day one! We'll set a good example and be positive role models for the child to look up to. We look forward to the many rewarding experiences having a child will bring. Experiences such as watching them take their first steps, or lose their first tooth. Just to watch them grow from infant, to toddler, to young adult and on will enrich our lives. We'll be hands-on, nurturing parents who will cuddle in bed each night as we read bedtime stories, wipe away tears when they're hurt, help with homework, teach them to ride a bike, and guide them with life's toughest decisions. We'll be the parents that attend every school event, dress up in funny outfits to show our school spirit, and proudly cheer their accomplishments and successes.
We're by no means perfect and will probably make some mistakes along the way but we'll never falter in our love for the child. Most importantly, we will always make him or her the #1 priority in our lives.
Many of our family traditions come around the holidays. Thanksgiving is Kim's favorite holiday and together with her Aunts and Grandmother, they prepare a meal fit for a king! It's traditional for each person to prepare a certain part of the meal and once the meal is ready, the whole family will sit down, say grace and enjoy our blessings. When we're unable to make it home for the holiday, Kim carries on the tradition in our own home and invites neighbors or those who may be away from their families over for a feast! Another of our traditions comes with the Christmas holiday. We have a collection of Hallmark ornaments and the day after Thanksgiving, we go shopping for a new ornament for our Christmas tree. Then we come home, pull out all of the Christmas decorations, turn on some Christmas music and decorate the Christmas tree. When we're done inside, we move outside where we hang up lights and decorations. Then it's time for hot cocoa, snuggling under a warm blanket, and Christmas movies! The simplest traditions are the ones we look forward to the most, and the ones we're excited to pass along to future generations.
