Even before we met, we always envisioned having children, When we met and eventually got married, the passion of having a child grew even stronger. Both coming from big families, we dreamed of having a child we could love and share our lives with. There is no greater gift in the world than a child. We planned and prayed for that day, picturing different scenarios we would all experience together growing as a loving family. We tried unsuccessfully for years to have a child naturally. We also sought the help of infertility specialists for years but unfortunately experienced disappointing results with multiple miscarriages. We both decided shortly after that experience that adoption would be the most rewarding way to be parents. The more we researched and networked, the more amazed we were at how important and beautiful the adoption journey could be for us. It restored our faith in being parents and we are now rejuvenated to have a child more than ever. The courage and love a birth parent shows in choosing such a selfless act is truly remarkable and to be given even the smallest opportunity to be a part of that process means everything to us. We are truly blessed and thank God every day for being potential parents.
Our dog Scout is a yellow American Lab Retriever and just turned one-year old. Who would have thought that a dog could have changed our lives in so many ways. We used to be amused at pet owners who talk about their pets constantly, taking them everywhere, dressing them up and taking pictures with them and now we are "those" people. We wanted a Lab because we knew how great they were with kids and that was a main factor as we have many young nieces and nephews and see them often. Scout is an absolute hit among the kids, they absolutely love him and Scout couldn't be happier when they are around, hugging and playing with him. Having a puppy has given us more patience, taught us to put his needs above our own and has given and gotten our unconditional love. We know that Scout will be so excited to have a child to protect and love and play with.
Some of Kerry’s favorite memories were our annual family vacations where the whole family would take daily day trips. My parents would take me and my brother’s deep sea fishing, amusement parks, drive-in movies, camping and swimming. It was the one week every year that I looked forward to spending all week going on daily adventures. We also had a pool growing up which was so much fun and we would spend most of our summer swimming with our friends and my parents loved having cookouts and having friends and family come over on the weekends. My childhood was filled with fun and family and I feel blessed to have such great memories that I hope we can create and share with a child.
Sean's favorite childhood memory was skating on the pond on the weekends behind our house and playing hockey with my friends and cousins. My brother and I would be out there from what seemed like sunrise to sunset and would walk the 100 yards home for grill cheese and hot chocolate at lunch, then head right back to the pond until it got dark. It was so much fun we never wanted the ice to melt.
