Thomas Amazed at All the Fish

Adoption has given us the family we have dreamed of and a happy go lucky, adventurous little boy that we can't stand to be apart from. It has given us the feeling of complete contentment when our son falls asleep in our arms and a reason to walk to the park to see how excited he gets just to swing on a swing, feed the ducks or see a train go by. Thomas is a very easy going little guy who loves to explore. His easy going nature makes him fun to be around. We adopted our son Thomas through American Adoptions in 2009. We love him so much we can't begin to tell you!

We were fortunate enough to meet his birth mother a few weeks before his birth and were able to be at the hospital the day he was born. Words can't describe our admiration for her and her strength and courage. Theresa was extremely moved by the feelings beyond love that she felt for her from our very first phone call. We think of and pray for his birthparents daily. We know Thomas will make a great big brother and we want to give all the love we have given Thomas to another child. We have been blessed and feel that giving another child love and happiness is something we are called to do.

Going for a Bike Ride

We really just enjoy spending time together as a family. We enjoy taking bike rides with Thomas on the many bike paths we have in the area. We often take long walks in a nearby park, go to concerts or walk to dinner. We also enjoy hanging out with friends and family playing games, cooking out or watching a sport, which often involves doing things with kids. We recently took Thomas to a series of classes that were offered by our community recreation center where he played with other kids his age finger painting, dancing and playing with balloons as a form of education and entertainment. If we are not taking Thomas to the zoo, science center, park or pool we may take a drive to an antique mall or a small town we have never been to just to have lunch. We also take in a round of golf when we can.

Hiking in Ohio

Theresa's other hobbies include crocheting, rollerblading, tennis, volunteering, getting together with friends and billiards; she has even won a tournament. Dave is a weather buff who also enjoys politics, history, running and watching every sport imaginable. We also like to travel when we get the chance. We usually to go to the beach each summer. We feel blessed to have grown up with family and friends that are a lot of fun and who have helped us to enjoy life.

All we could think of after Thomas came into our lives was, "our parent's loved us THIS much?" Being parents is even more fulfilling than we ever imagined! Being parents means spending time with your kids because you want to. It means supporting them and encouraging them when they try new things. It means kissing a scrapped knee, chasing them around the house, taking them to the zoo, science center and baseball games. It means listening and providing a shoulder to cry on when things don't go their way. Being a parent is getting the awesome chance to live life over again through the wonderment of your children's eyes. We love every minute with Thomas. We believe as parents our primary role is to provide as much love, support and fun as possible.

We believe our home is one that showcases a love of God and respect for one another and one that provides an environment where children can grow in confidence of their abilities while respecting the gifts and talents of others. Having been faced with many challenges in life, we feel that our modest upbringing coupled with the financial blessings our jobs have given us, have provided us with many unique experiences that we want to impart to your child, should we be so fortunate to have you select us.
