How Adoption Has Affected Us Personally
Our Family on Vacation

We are the lucky parents of an adorable daughter, Alma, who is beautiful, charming, and happy - she is all smiles. Thanks to American Adoptions, we finally accomplished our dreams of becoming parents, and it is a beautiful journey. Alma has added new dimensions to our life. She is a spirited person, developing a strong personality and a passion for music and the arts. Every day, she surprises us with something new. Despite her young age, she already understands both English and Spanish. We are confident that her fluency in both languages will grow as she does. This is important so she can communicate with her extended family in Spain. The process of adopting Alma was a touching experience, especially after enduring many years of infertility and disappointment. As a result, we maintain an open relationship with Alma's birth mother and believe that being honest and open with our child about adoption is the right choice. We all treasure those moments and memories. Now, we believe that every adoption is a miracle, and that it is the biggest gift of love that someone can offer. We are talking to Alma about the new baby who will soon come into our lives. She is still not aware of how her life will change, but she is the most social baby in her day care. She interacts well with other children. We are confident she will be a very caring and protective big sister.

Our Leisure Time
Glaciers in Alaska

Traveling has been a constant in our lives. When we were kids, we both traveled extensively through Europe. Our passion for traveling has not changed since we adopted Alma. We have adjusted our lifestyle to accommodate our child's needs. In the past year, we have traveled with her to Canada, Alaska, Andorra, and several times to Spain to visit our families for the holidays.

Arches Utah

We like to engage in outdoor activities that the entire family can enjoy, such as going to the zoo on a sunny day or playing outside in the yard. We are members of the local Orienteering Club and the whole family participates in these events. When we have additional time, we like to visit state and national parks. Following an active, healthy lifestyle is very important to us, so sports and cooking healthy food are two of our main leisure activities. We often share our weekends with friends and their children to play games and cook.

Our Cultural Heritage

Our cultural heritage is heavily influenced by the central role of family in our Spanish tradition. We like to celebrate special occasions with family members and friends. Food, music, and dancing are essential to all these celebrations, and children share the fun and the table with the adults. We both have wonderful memories of participating in these occasions as kids ourselves. These events usually start early with the preparation, and everybody in the family is involved and has something to do.

We now share this heritage with our child, Alma, just like our parents did with us. We also plan to teach our children about Spanish culture, history, and tradition in a way that is also very respectful of American traditions. We think that adopted children need to understand the traditions of not only the adoptive family but also of the birth family. Being able to understand different cultures will provide an invaluable experience for adulthood.
