As parents, we look forward to including your child in all of the family dinners and traveling that we treasure doing in our leisure time. Tanya is an excellent cook and we enjoy connecting with each other and friends over dinners. We are so lucky to have been able to experience the world through travel, from the islands of Greece and the waterways of Venice to the historic sites of London. We can't wait to "see" the world anew through the eyes of a child, and provide a real-world classroom for them to learn and explore their interests. We both remember childhood trips to Disney World, and are excited to return as parents with a wide-eyed child who has unlimited energy! We truly look forward to continuing our tradition of taking a special trip each year with the new addition to our family. Closer to home, we expect to spend many hours in the park, walking through the woods, and flying kites. We also anticipate sharing our love of games and music with this child. We envision impromptu music and singing to fill our house, with a guitar and piano at hand. We can't wait until we can teach your child our favorite card games and continue traditions from our childhoods of family game nights.
Holiday celebrations have always been special times for both of us. A tradition that has been passed down through Tanya's family is that we make a holiday potato pancake on Christmas Eve morning. Tanya remembers special times with her grandparent, parents, and extended family, gathered in the kitchen cooking and eating these delicious treats. We continue to share this tradition today with Tanya's family and envision the day that we can carry on the tradition with your child and his or her grandparents. Halloween was also a favorite holiday for both of us during our childhood, a magical time for imagination and fun! We love outfitting our house for Halloween, and we are known as a "destination house" for the neighborhood kids. We celebrate Halloween every year by decorating our house with fake cobwebs, strobe lights, smoke machines, and fake creatures with noise and lights. Each year, we add a new special effect to share with the neighborhood, and envision the day when a child of our own can enjoy this fun tradition with us!
Education has played such an important role in our lives, as both of us graduated from college and also achieved advanced degrees. With Tanya’s brother and parents being college professors, there will also be excellent educational role models for this child. Financially, we are able to provide an excellent educational environment for your child. We would explore educational opportunities that support his or her interests however we can! We also believe that learning can happen anytime and anywhere. We can’t wait to see this child learn about dinosaurs, animals, and more at our Natural History Museum, experience the mystery of space and gravity at our Science Museum, or learn about ancient history by visiting Roman ruins in Europe. We also want to make sure that your child is introduced to entrepreneurial opportunities and can learn real-world business skills and financial responsibility, so that anything can be possible for him or her!
