Chase-6 years old
Our Son
We have one child, Chase, who is 5 years old. Through raising him, we have realized how wonderful it is to be a parent. He is a wonderful, active, preschooler, whom has such a passion for living. Even at such a young age, he is very outgoing and confident. He enjoys playing many activities such as riding his bike, playing with his big trucks and cars, and having us read to him on a daily basis. He enjoys so much all the activities we do together as a family. Since we have such a flexible lifestyle to do so many family activities together, he routinely asks what are we doing tomorrow. He is looking so very forward to having a sister or brother. He often asks when will there be "another little child" in our home to have all of this fun with us. We have stored many of his baby toys and things away. He will not allow us to get rid of any of them as he says they are "all for my sister or brother". We know he will be a wonderful big brother to another child.
What We’ll Tell Our Child About Adoption
We view adoption as a positive way to complete our family and to provide a nurturing, loving home for a child. We have strived to be open and honest with our son Chase and plan on continuing this philosophy with the new child. We believe any child we adopt should know we were chosen by his birth parents to be his adoptive parents. We feel the child should know what an important major decision it was for his birth parents to choose us to raise their child. We plan on sharing with your child from a very early age he or she was adopted, so they will know from early on how much they are loved and wanted. We want your child to feel comfortable about their adoption and to be able to talk openly. We feel being open and honest with them about his or her adoption is important for their future emotional growth.
Our Passions
Fall Pumpkin Patch
We have passions as a family unit. We truly cherish our family time together and strive to make time to be together. We realize our work is a necessity in order to have the finer things in life for our family, however, our family time holds a priority. On a weekly basis, we set aside time to enjoy many family activities. During the summer, we go to the mountains and hike. We go the local rivers to kayak and tube. We take our bikes to the paved trails in the nearby parks and bike. During the cooler and colder months we pick pumpkins at a nearby farm and enjoy the local fall festivals. When the weather is really cold, we go to the nearby indoor roller rink and have an afternoon of family fun. We are never lacking family activities.
As individuals, we each have our passions. Each of us love our one on one time with our son and fortunately our work provides us the time to be part of his pre-school activities, such as field trips and parent days. Muriel enjoys being a stay at home mom, cooking, providing for our family. She enjoys working outside in the yard in our garden and flowerbeds. She enjoys attending nearby estate sales and shopping locally. Having a background in early child education, she is enjoys helping our son with his schoolwork. Rich's personal passion is his martial arts, which he has been able to also turn into a business for the family. He loves to teach the arts and to continue educating himself thru reading and attending seminars. Our son has benefited tremendously from watching daddy and learning the arts.
