We have been very blessed to know many great people who have either been adopted or have adopted.
Chris's best friend was adopted when he was a baby. They lived next door to each other all through elementary and junior high school. Kristy was introduced to him in high school, and we have both watched him grow up very happy with his adopted family. We have another friend who we met in high school who was adopted through foster care. We are still close to both of them and their families. Also, Kristy has a relative who was adopted. Through teaching, Kristy has been able to meet parents that have adopted. Kristy's second cousin fostered children for many years and has watched many children come and go through her home. Many of them still call her Mom. She also adopted a child.
Knowing and witnessing these people go through their own individual experiences, we have learned that adoption is a very rewarding and gratifying experience. It was always in our plans to adopt. It has also been an experience that has brought the two of us closer together. We have both appreciated the challenges and enjoyed the progress with our adoption process. We are looking forward to giving a child a loving home and making this child's and our dreams come true.
Outside of work, we enjoy being around each other, playing sports, motorcycle riding, ziplining, playing board games and taking trips to the park. We love to host barbeques and go swimming at the lake or at Kristy's parents' pool in the summer. In the colder months, one of our favorite things to do is enjoy movie nights at home with a big bowl of popcorn, snuggled up on the couch.
Kristy enjoys tending to her flowers, bike riding and reading, while Chris likes to get our Jeep Wrangler (that he is rebuilding) and four wheelers ready to go for a ride.
We look forward to teaching a child how to fly a kite, build a snowman and introducing them and even ourselves to new activities!
Chris on Kristy:
Kristy is my better half. I have a difficult time putting into words how I feel about Kristy and all the qualities that I admire the most. I don't think there are words to express those kind of feelings or qualities; it is just shown through actions throughout life. It's all the little things she does. She is always willing to try new things just because I am interested. Everyday she amazes me. Kristy is the most loving, caring, thoughtful, patient and strong-willed person I have ever known. I feel I am a lucky guy to have her as a wife and the future mother of our children.
Kristy on Chris:
Chris is my best friend. He is outgoing, kind and funny, and I love, admire, and respect Chris for many reasons. We help bring out the best in each other. I am shy, while Chris is very outgoing. He helps me to break out of my shyness to experience new things and meet new people. He can always make me laugh, which I think is so important. He has a big heart. Chris is one of those people who is willing help to anyone, at any time, with whatever they need. He is my go-to person, and I know he is someone I can trust completely. He is going to make a terrific father, and I am looking forward to building our family together!
