We believe as parents that we will have the responsibility to help a child grow into a happy, respectful, independent, "balanced" person who has compassion for others. Our parents set a great example for us and we plan on being good role models for your child. We are going to guide, protect, and love your child unconditionally while encouraging them to follow their dreams. We will provide the best education we can, and will offer as many opportunities & experiences possible.
We are looking forward to experiencing the day to day tasks of being parents: morning snuggles, playtime, reading books, going on adventures, and bedtime baths. The little moments of laughter, playtime, and just getting to see their personality develop are what we are excited about. We can't wait to re-live life through a child's eyes as they experience things for the first time. We know being parents won't always be glamorous but it will be the most important and rewarding thing we will ever do!
We have a great deal of experience with children, even though we don't have any of our own. Being that Jess is a nanny, (has been for 12 years) we get a taste of being parents on a regular basis. A normal day for Jess consists of changing diapers, feedings, kissing boo boo's, teaching ABC's & 123's, and having fun! Dan's job allows him to have time off during all hours of the day, so he often spends his free time with Jess when she is working. The children love playing with Dan and often ask for him when he isn't around.
We have both also been mentors for the Police Explorers (a division of Boy Scouts) at the department where Dan works. Dan was involved for 16 years, and recently stepped down to finish his Bachelor's Degree. During his time with the Explorer Post, he mentored over 70 kids.
With Dan's flexible schedule and Jess planning on being a stay at home mom, your child will always have lots of quality time to spend with us. We both thoroughly enjoy spending time with all of the children in our lives, and can't wait till we have a family of our own.
We have so many traditions but can only share a few of our favorites. We value family tremendously and we especially enjoy spending time with our nieces and nephews. We have them over for pumpkin carving night, and multiple pizza making nights a year. During these get togethers Jessica usually leads an impromptu dance party and Dan builds one of his "forts" with blankets that fill the entire living room.
Other traditions that we cherish are driving around looking at Christmas lights, spending the summer months at the river near our country home, and collecting Christmas ornaments from our various trips and experiences. We look forward to the day we can place a special ornament on the tree for your child.
Birthdays are a BIG deal in our family. Jessica's parents felt one day was not enough to celebrate their girls and wanted to make them feel special, so they started "birthday week". We continue this tradition ... no matter our age! We can't wait to include your child in these traditions and to make new ones with them.
