Our Leisure Time
It's a Long Way Down! Brian Skiing in Colorado

Sports are a big part of our family life. Mary and Brian played a variety of sports growing up. Now we enjoy watching Emma and Olivia play out on the soccer field. Brian even coaches Emma in flag football and basketball. When not playing, we spend much of our time with friends and family watching the games, whether it's football, baseball, or hockey. We have season tickets to the Washington Capitals hockey games and love to bring the girls along to cheer for the team.

When the games are over, we enjoy doing quieter things. Brian will grab his clubs and head out to the golf course. Mary picks up a good book and sits in the rocking chair on the front porch. As a family, we love to pack up the car to take weekend trips. This year we spent a long weekend with friends teaching the girls (and Brian!) to ski. During the summer, Mary takes advantage of her summers off as a teacher to spend the day with the girls at the neighborhood pool, teaching them to swim.

Qualities We Admire in Each Other
Warming Up After a Cold Game

Mary about Brian - There are many qualities that we love, admire, and respect in each other. One of the things that make Brian so wonderful is how selfless he is. He is always thinking of others' needs before his own. Mary and the girls are his number one concern. Brian is also very responsible and reliable. When he says he's going to do something, he follows through with it. He is highly respected by his colleagues and friends. But what makes Brian such a wonderful husband and father is that he is a true friend.

Brian about Mary - Mary is truly a phenomenal mother, wife and friend. She puts family first at all times and somehow manages to keep track of all our activities - work, school, sports, etc.!! Mary maintains a calm and caring demeanor each and every day. She is a fantastic teacher and is highly respected by her peers - evidenced by a "Teacher of the Year" award in recent years. Mary ensures that we all stay on track and remember that important things in life - family and values. I am very blessed to be her husband and look forward to growing our family together.

Our Pets
Casey

Our pets are an important part of our family. We have one dog and two cats. Casey is a black Labrador and is 10 years old. We rescued her nine years ago. Phineas and Ferb (named after our favorite Disney cartoon!) are identical black and white tuxedo cats. We rescued them a year ago as kittens when our friends found them abandoned at a construction site. We spend time as a family taking care of and playing with our pets. We take Casey for walks around the neighborhood, and Phineas and Ferb trot along behind us. And Casey loves to ride in the car, so we bring her with us whenever we can. Having pets is also a good way to teach Emma and Olivia responsibility. They love to help feed them, take them to the vet, and give them baths. Our favorite part about having pets is having them cuddle up with us on the couch or at the foot of our beds.
