We believe that God has a plan and sometimes we may not fully understand it, but we put our trust in him. Adoption is the path for us to build our family and if you should consider us, we want you to know that your child will be loved unconditionally and will always know about the love and sacrifice you made.

Talking About Adoption
Halloween Fun

Every family is unique and is built in different ways. Your child will be loved and will be told the story of how we became a family. We know it is important to be honest from the start to build a strong bond of security and trust. We decided on an open adoption because we want our child to know that he/she is so loved that their birth family made an adoption plan that was in the best interest and well-being for them. Your child will know as much as you feel comfortable sharing so he/she has a complete sense of belonging. Your baby will know that there is another family that loves him/her. We have a plan on how to tell our child about the adoption. Carolina has started writing a journal about the adoption process and describing the emotions that are experienced throughout the process. The journal will be shared and given as a gift later when the time is appropriate. We will be creating a book telling the story of our adoption and how we became a family. We believe that adoption is a gift and should be celebrated, not kept a secret.

Family Traditions
Together on Christmas Morning

We love spending time with our families and holidays are a time we spend together. Christmas is one of our favorite holidays. We set up our Christmas tree the weekend of Thanksgiving and decorate it with colorful ornaments and lights. We have a tradition to pick a new ornament every year. We love to get into the spirit of the season by having Christmas music playing in the house or in the car. We also love the old classic Christmas cartoons, and we watch them everyday starting on the first of December on ABC Family. The morning of Christmas Eve we start with a big breakfast and shortly after Carolina's mom starts cooking for the big meal. The family watches Christmas movies, plays games and enjoy each other's company. The dinner is delicious and is a mix of traditional American dishes such as a glazed ham, turkey, green beans, macaroni and cheese and cranberry sauce, but no dinner would be complete without our Colombian traditional dishes like "arroz con pollo" which is chicken, vegetables and rice, tamales, empanadas and potato salad... Yum! The following morning we get up have breakfast and then gather around the Christmas tree and one family member plays Santa distributing the gifts accordingly. The past couple of years have been even more fun sharing our traditions with our niece and seeing her eyes light up as she explores. Even the dogs get their own stockings filled with treats.

We strongly believe in the importance of a good education, and we will make it a priority in our child's life. Education can open up more doors for a more successful future. We believe the process starts right away by developing a strong sense of security and providing a stimulating environment. Positive contact with our baby will stimulate physical, emotional, social and intellectual development and in turn allow us to become closer to our child. We will start a college fund as soon as our baby is born, and the money will be available for their career choice. Daniel and I have discussed whether to send our child to public or private school, and we came to the consensus that we will consider several factors, such as the academic and college preparation of the schools, safety, class size and special programs offered when making that decision. At an early age, in the toddler years, we want to expose our child to music, arts and sports and encourage them to pursue whatever they express interest and curiosity in. When the time comes to decide on a career path, we want him or her to feel that they can make the choice that will make him or her happy and give him or her satisfaction. We will support and guide a child in whatever he or she chooses because we want him or her to be happy and feel fulfilled.
