Our Most Memorable Moment
Our most memorable moment happened 17 years ago when two hearts became one on our wedding day. Our wedding was held in a beautiful 200 plus year old brick church that sits upon a hill with picturesque country views. This is the same church we attend and Tracy is currently a member. While our beautiful ceremony was being held inside, Hurricane Hugo was bearing down on the outside of the church, but that didn't deter our family and friends from sharing our joyous occasion. Tracy remembers walking down the aisle on the arm of her father and seeing Rich's elated expression. Rich remembers feeling the excitement of watching his beautiful
bride-to-be as she approached and accepting her hand from her father to exchange vows. The reception hall was beautifully decorated in royal blue and white. Everyone enjoyed a family style dinner before celebrating with music and laughter. The highlight of the evening was when Rich got up to the microphone and sang "Old Time Rock and Roll" (and he doesn't even drink) and several of our friends got up and joined in as if they were his backup singers. Everyone in the room roared with excitement, which encouraged them to dance and clap as they sang. Before we knew it the evening had ended. Our honeymoon was enjoyed on a beautiful cruise to Bermuda.
How Adoption Has Affected Us Personally
Adoption already holds a special place in our hearts. Rich's grandparents adopted him and his sister at a very young age and we feel this will be positive influence to your baby knowing he or she has a parent and aunt that are able to relate to adoption. He fondly remembers his childhood, including such special memories as picnics with his family and fishing with his grandfather. His childhood was both wonderful and rewarding. After struggling for many years with infertility issues, we realized that God's chosen plan for us is to become adoptive parents. We are looking forward to having our dream of a family fulfilled thanks to your courageous decision. We now look at baby furniture and clothes knowing that we will have a family in the near future rather than just hoping. We have seen the dreams
of several of our friends seeking to adopt come true this past year.
Our Family Traditions
Our Great-Niece’s Birthday Party
Tracy fondly remembers family traditions during her childhood. These traditions include: having a few friends over for birthday cake and ice cream; dying Easter eggs; having an Easter basket on the kitchen table on Easter morning; an Easter egg hunt after Sunday School; the last house to visit on Halloween would be her grandmother's, where her brother and friends would empty their trick or treat bags and trade their candy with each other; Thanksgiving dinner at her grandmother's, which her mom has taken over the tradition; the excitement of Christmas morning when Tracy's mom and dad would tell her brother and she it was okay to come out and open their presents; putting milk and cookies out for Santa, along with carrots for his reindeer, which always had bites taken out of them.
Rich affectionately remembers his family traditions. These include: coloring Easter eggs, his Nanny and Papa would prepare Easter baskets, Nanny would make a birthday cake, family would come from other states to celebrate Christmas, the thrill of opening presents on Christmas eve and then on Christmas day, having dinner with his family.
We have carried on many of our family traditions. Some of our favorite are dying Easter eggs, having an Easter basket, going to Church on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving dinner with both families, Church on Christmas eve with Tracy's parents, celebrating Christmas day with both sides of the family and we are looking forward to creating new traditions with your child.
