We will never forget the day that we got a phone call telling us we had been chosen to be adoptive parents for our soon to be born son, Leo. We were thrilled, in shock, nervous, excited and every emotion in between!

We were blessed to be able to meet our son's birthmom and her extended family before the birth and Amy even got to go to a doctor's appointment before he was born. What a wonderful experience to hear his little heartbeat and to be a support for Leo's birthmom.

When Leo was born, we were at the hospital for his birth and got to spend a week with his birthmom and her extended family. We also got to meet Leo's birthdad. When Leo is old enough to understand, we have many stories to tell him about his birthparents and what wonderful people they are. We send Leo's birthparents pictures and updates frequently and will gladly do this for you as well.

Adoption is a normal word in our family and Leo will know that he is adopted from the time he can understand. We already tell him stories about his birthparents and we have a large scrapbook to share with him when he is older about his adoption experience.

We are very blessed to have our son Leo in our life and we are equally blessed to have Gary's daughter, Ali. We have Ali at our house every other weekend and also one night during the week. When Ali is over, she loves to play with Leo and is so proud to show her friends her little baby brother. Ali is in the 6th grade and loves dance, cheerleading and swimming. She is very outgoing and excels in school. Recently she asked us when we were going to adopt another baby and said she can't wait to have another baby brother or sister at her Dad's house. Leo loves his big sister and he gets the biggest smile on his face when she walks into a room. It is so much fun to see our kids love each other so much. We can't wait to add another smiling face to our family!

Our Basset Hounds, Kahlua and Tanner

We both love animals. Our two Basset Hounds, Kahlua and Tanner, are a large part of our life. They continually keep us laughing with their clumsy walk, long ears, obnoxious howls and sneaky demeanor. Our dogs love kids and are always in the middle of a game of catch or love sneaking off with one of Leo's favorite balls. The dogs greet Leo every morning at the bottom of the stairs and he runs over to give them "Leo pets". Every night Leo waves to the doggies as he goes upstairs to bed.

We feel that it is important to have animals. It teaches our kids how to care for other creatures and also teaches the responsibilities that come with being a pet owner. It is also nice for the kids to have an extremely loyal friend that loves you unconditionally.
