There are several words to describe what it means to be a parent, mainly because there are so many roles you fill in a child's life. We feel that the most important role of a parent is that of a teacher. You must teach not only how to accomplish things like walking, talking, and potty training, but you have a very large responsibility in teaching your child how to be a moral, kind and loving individual. We feel that between the two of us, we can provide an environment filled with love, friendship and support that will guide a child down the road to these goals. Mary's strength is that she is a very loving and patient person that loves to spend time helping our nieces and nephew with everything from homework to building train tracks in the living room. It is her biggest thrill to guide them as they figure things out on their own. Then there is Tony. Tony gets the greatest joy from our nieces and nephew when he sees them laugh and smile, even if it is at Tony's expense. Funny hats, pretending to fall, and even losing at Yahtzee are just some of the ways Tony gets a smile from his favorite audience. We guess you could say Tony's strength is being able to be a friend to the children while maintaining a level of respect as their elder. Being a major part of their lives is something we take very seriously and wouldn't trade for the world.

We both had dogs, sometimes 2 or 3 at a time, while growing up. They were considered family members and had very unique personalities and served in important roles, such as buddy, protector, and confidant. We just couldn't imagine living without one.

When we got married we couldn't wait to get our first dog. We weren't sure about what kind, but knew we wanted to rescue a dog that was in need of a home. Born in a junk yard in Virginia and rescued at 3 weeks old from being put down, Tallulah and her litter mates were taken to a home in NJ and weaned until they were 5 weeks old. We met her during an adoption day at a pet store. Very playful and obviously the head of the pack, Tallulah caught site of Tony and charged right on over. It was love at first sight. Today Tallulah (Lula for short) is just as playful and serves all the roles that each of our family dogs that came before her served faithfully. She is a great dog, loving, playful, and great with kids.
