![]() We have a loving, happy and safe home to offer a child and absolutely can't wait to be parents. Both of our families have been touched by adoption, and we can attest to what a beautiful way it is to become a family. We deeply appreciate your courage in pursuing an adoption plan and understand how important it is to you to choose the right family. Thank you for this opportunity to introduce ourselves! |

Work-life balance is very important to both of us. Laura likes to stay active by running in her spare time. She challenges herself in local races and someday hopes to run in the Marine Corps Marathon. Laura also enjoys photography, gardening, and cooking. Many of her photos can be found decorating our home. This summer, she plans to grow an organic vegetable garden in our backyard. Laura is also a great cook and loves to host family and friends for dinner. She can't wait to share these hobbies with a child!
Some of Brent's favorite leisure activities are skiing and golfing. He played baseball in high school and college. Making the transition into golf was not as easy as it may seem, but he is always up for a challenge. Brent is looking forward to taking a child out on the ski slopes or to his or her first baseball game! He also really enjoys trying out new restaurants. Washington, DC is full of amazing eateries featuring an incredibly diverse amount of international cuisine, so there is always a new restaurant to try. Brent also enjoys playing video games on Xbox and Wii. His favorite games are Guitar Hero and NCAA Football.
Most of our family traditions center on Christmas. This has always been a special holiday for our family. In particular, Laura's family likes to host Christmas dinner with a twist. Every year, a Christmas tradition is decoded. One year, during dessert, we sampled "figgy pudding." Another Christmas, Laura's mother made a Christmas goose, something none of us had ever tried. This past Christmas, Laura and Brent hosted the family. We all huddled around the fireplace while experimenting with "chestnuts roasting on an open fire." Recently, we began collecting ornaments from the various places to which we have traveled, which brings back memories when we decorate the tree. We can't wait to share Christmas with a child. We want to make it a magical time full of family, traditions, and, of course, LOTS and LOTS of presents!
"Adoption" is an incredibly powerful word in our family! Our families have both been touched by adoption and have experienced the incredible joy it brings. Laura has two cousins who are adopted. She fondly remembers the joy that the entire family experienced when meeting each child for the first time. They were "ours" from the moment they joined her family. Our brother-in-law is also adopted and has expressed how blessed he feels to have the adoptive parents that he has. Brent's aunt is a birth mother. Although her decision was very difficult, she knows it was the right one after seeing what an incredible person her child turned out to be.
We will always talk openly and honestly about adoption with our children. We will consider the story about how we became a family to be a cherished one, deserving to be celebrated. You are such a special part of that story. We hope to share our deep appreciation for your courage, strength, and dedication to the child's happiness and well-being. We want the child to know as much as he or she wishes about his or her birth parents so the child can truly understand who he or she is.
