We've been married for six years and we cannot remember a time that we didn't talk about starting a family and sharing our lives and our love with children. We met as next-door neighbors! We each decided to buy a house after graduating from college. What we didn't know is that we would buy the house right next to each other! Alyssa was immediately drawn to Patrick's sense of humor. He is so funny! We became fast friends and laughed out loud with each other all the time. We continued to renovate and remodel our homes, helping each other with various projects. Patrick was great at providing instructions and truly tried to teach Alyssa many carpentry skills. But, she was more interested in his looks, and his dog, a husky named Blue! Our friendship continued to grow and before we knew it, we were dating. A few years later, Patrick married the girl next door! We later knocked a hole through the wall and made one big house. Since then we have lost Blue, but have gained Daisy and Maddie. Both are very playful dogs that we love and adore!

We would be very open from the start. Honesty, we believe, is the best policy. Life is an amazing gift. Giving that gift to a baby is pretty incredible. Sharing that gift with a family like ours is an even greater gift! We would make sure your child knows how much we appreciate those gifts, and how thankful we are that you were so courageous to do so!

We will share as much information about you, your story and ours in ways a child could grasp and understand what adoption is all about. We will share bedtime stories about how exciting it was to prepare for his or her birth, the first time we got to hold them in our arms, the joys of getting to know their birthmother! We will create a scrapbook highlighting those events and more throughout your child's life. As the child grows, we will focus on the fact that your love for your child truly guided you to help build our family, always focusing on the positive.

We will always be honest and tell him or her how special they are; that you chose to place your child with a family like ours that could offer the same hope, promise, love and opportunities that every parent wants their child to experience.

On the Dock with Our Dogs

We love to relax together with our two dogs, Daisy and Maddie. We spend summers at our cottage on the river. We enjoy boating, fishing and kayaking together. The dogs love to go for boat rides and are upset when they can't fit in the kayaks! In the evenings, we watch movies, play cards and walk to our favorite snowball stand.

We grow raspberries and make tons of jam each season! We also have a flower garden with beautiful blooms all year long. This year we have also planted tomatoes and potatoes too.

Patrick is the neighborhood handyman. He enjoys helping others with projects. He also likes to make pottery and is currently learning to weld.

Alyssa loves to lay in the hammock and read. She also enjoys making quilts by hand and going for bicycle rides.
