While our family enjoys many traditions we have enjoyed beginning some of our own since our marriage more than seven years ago.
We believe its very important to take time out from our busy lives and spend time focusing on the relationship we have with each other as well as others. We do this in a variety of ways. From Summer vacations to little weekend get-aways here and there we love just spending time with one another. Kristy loves zoos and we have a running tally of the zoos we have visited around the United States. We think we're up to at least six and counting.
Christmas is a special time for us as well. We always go and pick out a fresh tree to decorate. Michael loves his lights and so the tree isn't lacking in that area. Along with the tree we also put up a Christmas village with the pieces we have acquired each year since we were married. The decorating of the tree is usually followed by a special snack and Christmas movie to put us in the Holiday spirit. We also enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas praise services with our church family and this has been a wonderful and encouraging time. We can't wait to share these traditions with a child and can only imagine that these times will be more special shared with a little one.
We are so excited to introduce our critters! Bandit is our seven year old fat and sassy cat. We had been wanting a cat for quite some time and Bandit happened to adopt us before we had a chance to go and adopt him. We left the door open one evening when he decided to waltz right in and make himself at home in our living room. It wasn't long before he had not only stolen our home, but our hearts as well. Bandit loves people, loves to cuddle in the winters, and seems to know just when we need him. He's been a huge source of comfort to us in the past couple of years and with his easy-going mild temperament, we just know he's going to do great with kids.
Elliott, our cockatiel, came to us this past Summer from a family who was moving and couldn't keep him. Elliott doesn't know a stranger and loves to greet people when they walk in the door with a whistle or a "pretty bird." He's entertaining and kids just seem to be drawn to him. Kristy loves to share stories and pictures of him to the students she works with at school. We love animals and they are a very important part of our life. In many ways they are just another extension of our family and they have given us so much joy.
We love traveling together and have gone several places together, but the one place we consider our favorite is Vail, Co. We happened upon Vail a few years ago while on our way to Glenwood Springs. We love Vail for many reasons. Vail is a place we can do everything we enjoy. We are active and adventurous and love the outdoors, and Vail offers everything from long bike rides through the mountains alongside the creeks, to hiking through the mountains and wildflowers. This past Summer we probably over-did the bike ride a bit as we could hardly walk for several days afterwards. It's something we laugh about and wish we could do again.
After a long day of activities, we love to just sit on the side of the creek and listen to it the sounds it makes. Sitting by the river as peaceful and we can kill hours just siting and dreaming about the year ahead and the things we hope to accomplish in the future. We also enjoy fine dining and Vail has so many options to choose from.
So whenever we dream about a great vacation, Vail is sure to come to mind. We can't wait to be able to take a child to Vail with us some day.
