Jennifer being a former substitute teacher, she knows how important it is to stress education and to start habits early. We chose adoption after we were told that having biological children without medical intervention was very unlikely. We did try in-vetro twice and when it did not work, we knew that we were intended to build our family another way. Doing so thru adoption is special to us. It allows us to be chosen to raise a child by someone with so much love for their child that they want what is best. Being a parent is not just about lineage, but the role model you can be for a child and helping them to become the best person they can be. We both strongly believe in leading by example and that is what we would like to do for your child. Unconditional love was something we were both given growing up and this allowed us to become who we are today. We are anxious and excited to share that with a child.

Adoption has affected us both personally in that a close friend of ours was adopted as an infant into a family where her sister and brother were also adopted. We have been friends with Jennifer since high school. She was raised knowing she was adopted and being around her and her family in my younger years helped me to know that families are made regardless of how each member comes to be together. She would share her thoughts on her birth parents with me and would often wonder about them. Recently, she had the opportunity to finally talk with her birth mother on the phone and learn some very valuable information about her birth parents. It has been an experience for us as she has shared her experience knowing we are about to adopt and to help us in understanding a child's need in knowing where he or she comes from. Her adoptive parents encouraged her to find out more about her birth parents and have supported her along the way. Jennifer will continue to be a part of our lives going forward and will be a great advisor in helping us answer questions knowing she has been through it herself.

At a Chiefs Game

Traveling is top of that list. We both like to visit new places and road trips are something we do enjoy. We did a 13 day trip a few years back and enjoyed our time together traveling across the country at our own pace, stopping along the way at many locations. Attending concerts and plays is something we do often. Camping is something we try and do as often as possible in the summer. We typically go with family and/or friends. Sports are another favorite. We are both football enthusiasts trying to catch a few games of our local NFL team as often as possible. NASCAR and college basketball is also a favorite. Boating in the summer time is a way we pass the time. There are many local lakes nearby and we try and go out as often as possible to enjoy the summer. Spending time with family and friends is something we like to do and we incorporate the above in with our family and friends as often as we can.

Brian enjoys spending his time fishing, bicycling or working out in the yard. Jennifer loves photography and is constantly taking pictures. She also enjoys reading, shopping and just relaxing out on the deck when ever possible. Sierra, our dog, enjoys our leisure time as well. She loves going for walks, hanging out in the yard watching the neighborhood kids or going for a boat ride as well.
