It is overwhelming to try to create a profile to tell you how much we would like to be adoptive parents to your child. Even though we have experienced our own struggle to have children, we know it is nothing compared to what you are going through to find the right people to raise your baby. We hope that through this profile you will get to know us and how your child will become part of our family.

Zack-5 years old
Adopting Zack
Adopting Zack was a major turning point in our lives. We remember going to the hospital to meet him wondering if he was going to like us! When his birth mom placed him in our arms, we never wanted to let go. It was definitely love at first sight! Zack and Michelle are almost inseparable. Michelle returned to work for a few hours when Zack was a week old. Zack went right along with her. Michelle held him in one arm and typed up notes with the other hand, took him to meetings, and finished training her replacement, all while snuggling with Zack. That's pretty much how we approach things. We love spending time with him doing everyday things and always look forward to introducing him to something new. Mike and Zack love to go biking, work out in the yard, and go to the park.
We have a good relationship with Zack's birth mom and communicate with her regularly through letters and pictures. In his room, he has pictures of himself and his birth mom, and his scrapbook tells the story of how he came to live with us
and documents the two meetings we had with his birth mom while finalizing his adoption. We have kept all of our
correspondence with her to give to him when he is older so that we can provide him as much information as possible about her. We know how much she loves him and we tell him regularly.
Religion
Michelle was raised as Lutheran and Mike was raised Catholic, but it was decided before the wedding that our household would be Lutheran. It's very important to both of us that our children feel church is a place to go anytime, not
just on Sundays. Michelle and Zack are at church every Wednesday for some kind of activity: once a month for preschool story time, once a month for playgroup and twice a month for a mom's group where Zack gets to play with his friends while Michelle talks with other moms about parenting issues. The past two summers we have also participated in Vacation Bible School at church. Zack’s favorite part is the music and our whole family has made some really good friends.
A Typical Day in Our House
Zack’s First Day of School
Well, we're not sure we really have a typical day at home! We are normally on the go. Mike normally heads to work early so that he can make it home for dinner. Zack and Michelle often have plans with friends in the morning. It's very important to us that our children know how to work and play well with others! Sometimes Zack plays at a friend's house, or we may meet friends at the park, zoo or a fun place to play.
In the afternoon Michelle and Zack run errands and head home to play. We eat dinner as a family unless Mike is out of town for business. When Mike gets home, he and Zack play and talk about the day. After dinner, it's time for books and bed. Mike is in charge of bedtime stories and then we all say prayers before Michelle sings to Zack.
Mike and Michelle are normally worn out by the time bedtime comes, but it's worth it! Family comes first with us and having Zack in our lives has made it so much more full. All three of us are so excited about having another member in our family.
