We are Dave and Jenny and our dream to have a family has led us to adoption. We adopted a beautiful baby girl, Jane, almost two years ago. She has filled our lives and hearts with joy, love, and laughter. We would love to expand our family by adopting another baby girl or boy. As parents of your child, we will
provide a loving, nurturing, and supportive life.

What We Plan to Tell the Child About Their Adoption
We plan to tell your child he was adopted before he even understands the word. We will start the process through children's books, including one we plan to create just for him about his adoption story. By introducing adoption early, your child will be comfortable with his past and hopefully be able to approach us with questions. Besides his birthday, we will celebrate "Gotcha Day", the day we became a family. As he grows, we will introduce more information, discussing any of his concerns openly and honestly. We will share your courage and strength to make a plan for him. We will also include any information you may want your child to know. We came across the following poem which describes how we feel about Jane and her birthmother:
Once there were two women who never knew each other,
One you do not remember, the other you call Mother.
Two different lives shaped to make yours one,
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun.
The first gave you life and the second taught you to live in it.
The first gave you a need for love and the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name,
One gave you the seed of talent, the other gave you aim.
One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears,
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried your tears.
One placed you in a new home, it was all that she could do,
The other prayed for a child and God led her straight to you.
And now you as me through your tears, the age old question through the years,
Heredity or environment, which are you a product of?
Both, my darling, both.
A Family Tradition
Our first Christmas as a married couple, we started a tradition of going to a tree farm to cut down a Christmas tree. That first year we scoured all over the county for the "Perfect Tree" (as we were also in an unofficial challenge with Jenny's parents for the best tree). Well, we finally ended up getting one with a crooked trunk and bald spots…it got too dark to see and we were getting tired and hungry! My Dad called it the "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree". Needless to say after ten years and now with the help of Jane, we are much better and quicker at picking out trees.
Jane’s First Camping Trip
Jane and Her Cousins on a Fall Camping Trip
We took Jane on her first tent camping trip this past fall. She was 19 months old at the time. It was a tight fit, but for sleeping arrangements we set up her Pak-N-Play in the middle of the tent and we slept on either side of her. Since fall nights can be cool in Ohio, we also had an electric heater in our tent. We spent our days enjoying the fall festival events (hayrides, bonfires, trick-or-treating, and hanging out with Jane's cousins and aunts and uncles) and our nights sleeping soundly in our toasty warm tent.
