On Being Adopted
Chris is an adopted child himself. Chris has always known that he was adopted and it was never an issue for him. He was raised with all the love and support anyone could possibly need or want.
About three years ago, we had a chance to meet Chris' biological siblings; unfortunately his birth parents were both deceased. He learned that he was one of eleven children and the family could not afford to raise him. Meeting his biological family and learning about their upbringing has made him very grateful for the life he has led with his adoptive family.
What We’ll Tell Your Child About Their Adoption
We want to give your child the same wonderful life that Chris was given. We will always let the child know about his/her adoption and what a special gift it is to be loved so much by two families. We will make sure that your child knows the loving and courageous thing you did for him/her and also how much we appreciate and respect you. We will always talk openly about adoption as a very special and beautiful thing. We will create an environment that allows the child to ask questions about you so they will get a sense of where they came from.
Our Favorite Vacations
At a Winter Olympic Hockey Game in Salt Lake City
We generally try to go on one or two vacations a year. Canada is Chris' favorite place to go. We got engaged in Toronto, honeymooned in Nova Scotia and spent our fifth wedding anniversary in Niagara Falls. Chris secretly wishes he was Canadian. We get to see the best hockey there. Chris is a huge NHL fan, so we usually go to a hockey game each year in a different city. Our latest trip was to Minnesota. We went to a hockey game and visited the Mall of America. We always research the city we are going to in order to find the points of interest each city has to offer. For example, we found out there was an annual Winter Carnival going on and a historical military fort to go to in Minnesota. These are experiences we would love to share with a child.
Christine's favorite place to go was Disney World. She is a huge fan of Disney movies, especially Winnie the Pooh. It is the only place to go where it is ok to act like a little kid. We were there two years ago with Christine's family and we had such a good time. Christine's favorite ride "It's A Small World" was closed for repairs, so we will definitely have to go again. Hopefully next time we will have a little one with us.
