We are firm believers that all things happen for a reason and that every cloud has a silver lining. More than anything, we want to become parents and to share our love with this child. After unsuccessfully being able to conceive a biological child of our own, we cannot help knowing that there is a child waiting for us to adopt. It is this belief and faith that keeps us strong. We are accepting of the fact that this is a matter that is out of our control and that God has something else in store for us. Little did we know that every effort we made while trying to conceive was one step closer to adoption and one step closer to the greatest gift of all, this child. We take comfort knowing that adopting a child has been God's plan all along. This makes us happy knowing that someday we will be able to share in the joy of becoming parents.

We are both very well established in our careers and feel blessed that we can do many of the activities that we both enjoy. Whether we are working in the yard or shopping the local antique mall, the two of us are always together. This time together allows us to relax and enjoy each other's company and to really focus on good quality family time. We are fortunate that we both have careers that allow flexibility and plenty of family time. There is nothing more we could ask for than spending an evening at home with our family or friends and simply enjoying being in the company of loved ones. We make it a point to have a family dinner each night of the week when possible. Everyday, time will always be made to discuss the day's events and nurture and support each other.

On the Beach on Nantucket Island

Our favorite place to vacation is the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts. It is an island rich in history and New England charm. We vacation on Nantucket for a week every summer. One reason that we enjoy getting away to Nantucket is the slower pace in which everything moves. Absent from the island are large retail chains and heavy traffic. Instead, it is full of mom and pop shops, small restaurants, and plenty of outdoor activities from bike rides to playing on the beach. The most popular mode of transportation on the island is walking or riding bikes. It is the perfect family vacation spot. Leisurely strolls through the cobblestone streets, visiting the cranberry bogs and impressive lighthouses are a nice departure from the Midwest. Also, the quaintness of the island, the salt spray from the ocean, the friendly people and the rich history is like no other place. The island is also very manageable. From end to end is only 14 miles, a distance easily traversed by bicycle with a child carrier! We look forward to family vacations on the island riding scooters, bicycling and of course eating fresh seafood. We cannot wait to share this special place with our family and create memories to last a lifetime.
